Longer Rear Seat Belts

I'm sure I've read an article somewhere about how changing the standard length 3-point inertia reel seat belt for a longer length belt which will allow the use of a Prince child seat.

However, I can't remember where and have spent ages on the Forum, Rennlist etc. searching for something on how to do this, but no joy. Can anyone help? If anyone knows a good place to buy the longer belt that would also help.

PS. Anyone scanning Ebay for a Prince child seat might like to know I took a chance on a look-a-like Mercedes-Benz child seat which I managed to get for £50. It seems to fit fine in the back of my 964 and comes with a comforting Britax Romer Prince label on the back!

The Porsche Prince is a re-badged Britax Romer anyway (with a somewhat higher price tag!), so that should be fine.

You can get a longer rear seatbelt from Porsche (i.e. your OPC parts dept) - it has 8" longer webbing, part no.964.803.902.00, but it's about £100. Very easy to fit in about 1/2 hour - just undo the lower belt fixing bolt then unscrew and lift up the rear parcel shelf. Underneath you'll find the inertia reel mechanism - undo the bolt holding it down, then slide it back and up to remove. Intsalling the new one is just the reverse (remembering to thread the belt through hole on the shelf).

The alternative would be to go to someone like Quickfit (http://www.quickfitsbs.co.uk/ - nothing to do with the tyre people), who can replace the webbing.
