Damn...

Wish I had the money to buy a 987, so I can get a hardtop to may it look like a cayman....

In fairness though, it looks amazing !

In saying that... at 2800 + vat, isnt that not far off the cost difference between a Boxster S and a Cayman S ?

Yeah it is but the cayman does look good and in this weather dont you want a hardtop??
I could have waited and bought a cayman but no drop top for the summer!
If I buy a hardtop for the money charged by Porshe GB (£2500) I want something special!

[FONT=verdana, geneva"]Yes, it does look good. I would certainly like to know more:

Where is it made?
Where can I see one?
Any warranty?
Does it impact your 987 warranty?
Any colour?
Any fitting charge?
Any drilling or other modification required?
Any storage stand?

I've emailed the questions to Zeintec, and I will post the answers if and when I receive them.

My main concern would be the 3rd brake light, is it visible with the hard top on? if it isn't visible there would be the normal legality issues.

Is it legal to have 3rd brake light? I understand the law to state that if it is there and visible it should be functional. However if none is present/can be seen then everyone's happy....

Very similar to the rules around spare wheels... You dont have to have one, but if you do, it must be roadworthy...

I'm sure i'll be corrected...

And erm - Welcome to the forum!

[FONT=verdana, geneva"]Further to my earlier post, here are the answers to my questions from Zeintec in South Africa:

[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=arial"]To answer your questions:[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
  • [FONT=arial"]We make a 987 and a 986 unit, they differ very slightly. Fitted to a 987 this hard top works so well as a coupe! [FONT=verdana, geneva"]
  • [FONT=arial"]It will not rub the paintwork once fitted, obviously there is a risk of hurting the paintwork whilst fitting, which would be the case with any hard top and we aim to supply a clear adhesive decal set with the Zeintop to minimise this risk.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
  • [FONT=arial"]The first batch will be built at our Hitech Automotive facility under supervision of Aerodyne Technologies the makers of seating for Recaro, seating for Airbus and Boeing and also the builders of the body panels for the Mercedes McLaren SLR.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
  • [FONT=arial"]The Zeintop will carry a conditional guarantee[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
  • [FONT=arial"]It will be available in the UK. We are currently finalising negotiations with several dealers. This will be available on our web site in due course.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
  • [FONT=arial"]The cost will be approximately €4300[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
  • [FONT=arial"]We match all Porsche colours[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
  • [FONT=arial"]No, the design is intended to allow for "home fitment" however, should your local dealer perform fitment it is up to them to charge for this labour separately. Boxster boot lid needs removal(4 bolts), no drilling, no modification necessary at all.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
  • [FONT=arial"]We will produce a storage stand based on demand, right now there is no storage stand available but watch this space(www.zeintec.com)[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
[FONT=arial"][FONT=verdana, geneva"]The first shipments to the UK are scheduled for May. Here is a photo, which appears to show it covers the high brake light.[FONT=verdana, geneva"][FONT=verdana, geneva"]
