Looking at a Cayman..

tough one that

PDK and brown leather is a tough sell on a gen 2 going forward. although GT silver and coco look cool imo.

ALso most PDK owners want the sports design wheel with paddels, not the button wheel (about £800 to change)

the 981 PDK is so so much better than the 987.2 PDK like leaps and bounds better, but the 987.2 car is a nice drive(steering feel) but goes better with manual imo

price looks cheap to me, as finding a gen 2 3.4 Cayman is bloody hard, very few about.

AT the end of the day, you know the values of cars for sale and you know if you want PDK or not and you know what you are happy to spend, so peoples views are really not worth much imo.

I see, "what should I buy" posts every day, I don't get it, I have never asked that question on a forum ! I tend to buy what I like and to hell with peoples views ;-)

I would say don't touch it with a barge pole, it's PDK and has brown leather, so finding a buyer later will be harder, you may love it and that's all that matters.

 
While searching for an R that one has crossed my radar too but hasn't ticked all my boxes for an alternative S...it doesn't have steering column paddles and I can't see from the pics if those are Sports seats? The description says 'adaptive sport seats' but I'd actually like to see a proper picture of them...why are OPCs so cr*p at taking pics of their stock!! Also it seems odd that a 2009 car has only covered just over 5,000 miles. I'll be interested to hear what you think of it, if you go and view it.

 
With that spec (brakes etc) my money is that it was an ex PGB press car.

Having said aid that if it drove nicely and was up together is buy it. I like the colour combo, but that's very personal. My least favourite colour is silver, but my car was in mint condition but silver!

I don't think its an ex Porsche Cars Press Car as the Mileage would be Higher but I would say have a look at it as something I checked

when I recently brought a low milage Boxster from a Porsche dealership that the car was service as the book say ever two years and my car was.

Its also a very high spec car and for yourself and the paddle issue some cars had them and some cars had buttons which still work ok with the PDK as you can clearly see from the picture this Cayman has buttons.

I also feel the price is fair because the brakes are top of the Porsche range an would expect a little higher on the price over the standard red visions put on most S caymans.

If you do go and look at the car you mayn't be aloud to test drive it till you've agreed a price to buy it which I experience when I brought my Boxster but don't let this put you off it's a Porsche Dealership thing so I'm told.

Good luck would be interested to hear on the Forum what you decide to do pass it by or go and look at this excellent Cayman as I think the Coco Brown Leather goes very well with the GT Silver of the car.

Cocoa leather is rare and in my view a nice colour as is the GT Silver a combination which was used I think on one of the special edition Boxster 986S models some years ago, the two go well together, as for the PDK buttons against paddles issue I have paddles but I actually liked driving the buttons my car when I bought it happened to have the paddles and is the first I've driven which had them. The spec sounds to be very good, definitely worth a look.

The low mileage issue, well it is very low and most likely previously owned by someone who probably bought it as a "Toy" but then hardly used it, maybe spent more time bragging about it, I've had cars from the dealer's branch in Sheffield and found them good at describing their cars but you could phone and ask them to send you more photos of their phones or maybe even a walk round video, no reason why they shouldn't do that.

 
To clarify my point about the buttons. I think they're great for road use...I used them all the time when I had a tiptronic. However, for me I'm searching for paddles as they're better than buttons when on a track. [:)]

 
I agree with you Brian. Manual is indeed the most fun and best way to drive cars like these. PDK is the compromise for blokes like me that will find themselves in crawling traffic a few times a week. With no traffic I would stick with a manual....while we still can!

The sweet spot from Porsche cars though, seems good value to me, very hard to find low miles 3.4 Caymans

 
Nice car. Unusual combination for someone to upgrade to spec'ing the expensive PCCB but opting to stay with the 18" wheel. Nothing wrong with that - just would have thought that someone into upgrading to the expensive ceramic brakes with huge rotors, would also be into upgrading to the larger 19" wheel and lower profile tyre. Not saying the two must go hand in hand.

Maybe it had some higher spec wheels swapped off it to close a deal on another car. I've had that done for me when I wanted a particular wheel on my previous purchase. They took them from another car.

 
My car is for sale as a Porsche Approved car at OPC Aberdeen. Expensive maybe, but a cracking car properly driven and exceptionally well maintained.
