Looking at G pipe
- Thread starter ruane
- Start date
De-cat, cup pipe and G-pipe would be VERY LOUD - I guess 115dB+ on a standard noise test.
Where are you based Stephen, if it's anywhere near Gloucestershire I'd be happy for you to have a listen. Or if you can wait till 7th March you'll hear it at the Donington meet.
You'll have to say goodbye to track days and you'll probably get some unwanted attention from the boys in blue.
I'm actually considering putting mine back to de-cat, standard rear box and secondary box. But might try de-cat, standard rear box and G-pipe first to see how that sounds.
In March I'll have it set-up as I said in the post above - have a listen and see what you think.

Steve, that was my car, I drove it, and yes it was very loud.
Now with decat, Cup bypass, secondary silencer and Wills Tip = 103dB, and it works.
Chris that was your car - De-Cat, Secondary Silencer and G-pipe = over 115db at 4800 rpm.
Waste of time if you plan tracking the car.
G-pipe, Cup Pipe and De Cat I think would see you being stopped by the Police Ruane. That set up doesnt sound good at all, more like a car with a blown manifold.

And on mine - normal cat, primary, secondary and a Will Norman tip - 98dB (just), so can get on to Goodwood quiet days.
The things we have to sacrifice Ian!![&:]
I'll assume no-one runs with the engine undertray still fitted? Any other info that you think would be useful?
Can those listed below let me know whether you have standard or holed airbox as I believe it makes some difference to dB ratings.
The list so far:
For Quiet Track Days: <98dB
Standard cat, primary silencer, secondary silencer + Will Norman tip - 98dB (just) Ian964
For Loud Track Days: <105dB
Race cat, primary silencer, secondary silencer = 100-102dB Melv
De-cat, Cup-pipe, secondary silencer + Will Norman tip = 103dB (current) Chris W
De-cat, Cup-pipe, secondary silencer + Will Norman tip = 104-106 dB (with cone intake - Motec) Jamie Summers
De-cat, Cup-pipe, secondary silencer + Will Norman tip + removable silencer "bung" = 98-100 db (with cone intake - Motec) Jamie Summers
Standard cat, Cup-pipe, and secondary silencer = 105/6dB at Brands. Hugh
You won't get on UK Track Days:
De-cat, Cargraphic 2-outlet rear box, G-pipe, Drilled Airbox = 109left - 113right Rich C
De-cat, Cup-pipe, G-pipe = 115dB+ ChrisW (previous)
De-cat, Cup-pipe, G-pipe = 118dB Des (with Minty)
