Hello to all

Im new here and have decided that i would like to own a boxster hence joining the forum

firstly i would like to say im looking at the cheaper end of the boxster price range
and im sure i am going to be told to stay clear but its what i can afford at this current time due to other classic vdubs in the garage.

now im looking at the upto 6500 pound price tag so probably if im lucky upto a 1999 model 2.5/2.7

what would be your advice for me on my quest of owning my very first porsche please and dont be shy i can take it

cheers for now

You should be able to find a reasonable car. I have one with 111,000 miles on and it runs well. If you can do some work yourself this makes life easier.

Thanks fir the welcome and speedy replies
I have been looming at eBay to be honest and didn't think of autotrader but will start looking now and piston heads cheers for that

Just out of interest how much is your ted one and what's wrong or needed to be done on it please send me a private message

Also while I'm thinking of this would I. Be cheaper for me to get a left hand drive model or not and is manual better or auto
Cheers

I suggest you also alter the date setting ont he top of the Boxster forum page - its currently set at 30 days, alter it to a longer time period and you'll find loads of others asking the same questions as you.

If you are happy to hang on another month or two the prices will drop as the summer comes to an end - October always a good time to buy as those that have had their final summer of ownership are pretty keen to offload before winter.

You might be hard pressed to find a 2.7 in budget, unless you are happy to get your hands dirty.

Nothing wrong with the 2.5, but read plenty of the buyers questions here to get a feel for what to look out for - IMS, RMS, stone chips, scruffy interiors, kerbed wheels.

Sadly a lot of cars at this price poitn have been bought by people who aren't able to devote the upkeep they sometimes need. Its a £7k purchase but factor in £500-700 for a set of tyres, £500 for the brake discs/pads (DIY), plus servicing (£350 - 600 at independents), roof replacement (£700).

They are great cars, just remember they were the best part of £40k new, are 10+ yrs old and so need more expensive upkeep than a 3 yr old Mondeo.

Good luck with the search.

Thanks for the info on time settings on the forum page I will do that

Thanks for the link some nice cars available from first glance

The other reason for the lefty drive was so my wife could use it as shr doesn't line right Hand drive and resale value well If I find the right one I will be keeping it for a good few years

But all good so far so thanks guys for the help up to now

Cheers
