Dont know much about them really, always been into 70's 911s but have decided to sell mine, move on and buy something the wife can drive as well.

Where are the pitfalls, what problems do they have, when did traction control come in, when did the glass rear window come in?
What should I be aware of?
looking at all ages at the moment.
Would like blue with cream leather but can't seem to find any yet.

Thanks in advance.

History, important, glass window on face lift model, around 2004 ,
Pay more for early car with dealer history than a newer car with no history, A
Well maintained car is bullet proof, a dog car is a dog car whatever the make,
Tyres, MAF sensors, brakes, plugs, oil, filters can all be bought from Indy specialist, keep away from main stealers , many great independent specialists, can't recommend JZ Mach, herts area enough, great service , good people, they can always look over car before you buy,

James,

Have a look at the buyer's checklist we prepared for the 996, both cars share most of the same issues.

Good luck with your search - Boxster's are incredible cars.

What a great bit of buying advice posted above.

Just for my twopence - Always try and buy when the budget allows something a little bit different.

Take a look at the Boxster S Anniversary model. http://www.porsche.com/uk/aboutporsche/pressreleases/pcgb/pressreleases2003/?pool=uk&id=2003-11-21 Only approx 150 into UK so not all of those will still be on the road!
Has all the advantages of 986 model with all the extras and of course that all important glass back window.
In fact take a look at the latest edition of 911 and Porsche World and they have a very good 5 page article on this model.
Price will depend on mileage with A1 proper cars with history under 30K being around £18 and higher milers down to high £14's.
Well worth a look I promise you - I own one[;)]

Its not the fact that she couldn't but after 12 yrs of ownership she has driven it 5 times. Its too noisy, too old, too smelly, need I go on. It just doesn't get used and is beginning to show signs of rust etc and at 40 years old (thats me and the car ) I fancy something that is more useable, I can leave outside and to be honest is cheaper.
