Hey guys,

After a lengthy chat about different types of porsche, my cousin has decided to move out of home and buy a boxster, as you do. He's got his heart set on getting a midnight blue with tan leather interior 2.5l one with a budget of £10-12,000. After a brief look around on ebay and the like, i managed to find more than i expexted at said price. Can anyone advise us on what to look out for on a car which may be 10years old and have around 90,000miles on the clock.

cheers,

Andy

Andy although not for sale my car has 90043 miles on the clock and is a 2.7 MY2000.

The windscreen has a few chips in it. The bonnet and wings have a liberal sprinkling of stone chips. The front PSU is peppered with the same. The drivers seat is well worn on the right side due to getting my butt in and out two or three times a day. There are dings in most panels apart from the pasenger door. The plastic window is starting to crack along the fold line right up close to the canvas. The hood itself it well creased and worn along the fold lines. As the car has been a daily driver for 6 years the wear is made worse by not having the time to dust down the hood before dropping it. I have a few scuffs in the leather interior and a few stains in the boot carpets which are light grey unfortunately. All four wheels could benefit from a refurb. The paint around the rear of all four wheel arches is pretty tired. I don't have air-con so I can't comment on what to look out for there.

Whilst it's never going to be concours with a bit of effort it scrubs up quite well. Sorting the dings and chips and a BAS glass screen hood are planned for the near future and I'm looking at a budget of about £2.5k for this. It's been tracked several times but it's never had a problem yet with its MOT tests. It drives as well as it did the day I left the showroom.

JCB..

John,

that looks like the beginnings of a PP article on how well Boxsters stand up to the grind of a daily driver, could give Mark a rest for a month?
