Looking for a Gen 2 987

After the recent departure of our Gen 2 997 C4 (part-ex'd for a Macan S that we can get much more use out of as a family) I have a large Porsche-shaped hole in my garage and am considering filling it with a Gen 2 987 (nearer to 2011 would be better). We had a Boxster S back in 2000 and are keen to get back to one.

I'm currently looking for something that isn't black or white: the Volcano Grey Macan keeps me busy enough cleaning already.

After years of paying for a restrictive warranty in case the PDK failed (and before anyone says they are bulletproof, yes, it did...) and for a bit more driver engagement, I'm interested in returning to a manual. The 986 had a really stiff clutch that became a little tedious in traffic but I'm hoping to spend less time in traffic in this and am also hoping the 987 has a less stiff clutch - at least that's what I'd heard?

Only critical options are heated seats and bi-xenons; Very-nice-to-haves: Bose, parking sensors, cruise; Would be interesting: PSE, extended leather.

So, anybody got any thoughts on the options I'm looking at? Did I miss anything?

Anybody happen to have one they are looking to find a very good home for?

TIA

I had “Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic cornering lights and LED daytime running lights” on mine (P75). Best headlights I have ever had for driving on winding country roads. Wish the ones on my 981 were anything like as good.

Thanks Brian. After the Litronics that I had on our 986 I wouldn't want to go back to halogens. Unfortunately and bizzarely, I'm finding they are one of the rarer options that you come across.

I also specified Litronics on my 986 and was impressed with those. Although expensive, I specified P75 on my 987 Cayman S and it was one of those things that every time I drove at night it was a "wow" experience, also much safer and enabled higher speeds without upsetting oncoming traffic. OPCs didn't seem to specify them for stock cars. IMHO they are much better than the fancy adaptive LEDs on my wife's fairly new BMW. I suspect that one of the issues in trying to find them on a used car is that most owners and dealers don't have a clue what they have got, and don't list them in the spec. Good luck in finding a car to suit your requirements.

Good luck with your search, and absolutely agree that the Bi-Xenons are a must. I had the Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic cornering lights on my 987.2 and they were very good indeed. (Not quite as good as the LED PDLS+ on my sadly departed GTS4.0 but still impressive). The standard halogens on both 987 and 981 are truly awful, I consider it a disgrace that they can sell a performance car with such bad headlights. Ive never tried to non swivelling Bi-xenon option so cannot comment on those.

Thanks - yes, such a shame they are not a common option. I find it strange, same as finding cars without heated seats but I guess each to their own at the end of the day.

I just need to be patient...

My 987.2 2.9 has those headlights, stunning, and it is white, manual, but sure wish it had heated seats! (wife would be far happier)

Good luck with the search, they are surprisingly rare.
