Hello, I'm 24 years old and just about to by my first Porsche (944S2) and i'm looking for insurance has any one got any advice?
thanks for your time Andy

I have just insured my 1988 944s (today actually) through AON, they didnt require NCD because of the age of the vehicle apparatly, although I have 7 years NCD, currently drive a subaru impreza import, £100 excess £40 glass, Agreed value and unlimited mileage £165 FC.

I can also recommend Keith Michaels insurance but only speak to Gary Moulson say I put you in touch, pm me for my details and his direct number and im sure he will help and a discount added.

I just had a quote from A Plan - 23, 4 years NCD, unlimited miles, business use, a couple of non-fault accidents: £650 fully comp.

I reckon that's pretty reasonable.

try lancaster i got mine 185 fully comp with 4k garantee fv found them well helpfull

Some companies will give a discount for Club membership. With the sort of premium you'll be looking at it might be worth thinking about. We have insurers who are linked to us, and I'd guess that Tipec would have the same.

Beyond that the only advice is to decide the cover you want - agreed value, track days, limited mileage or whatever - and then call everyone. It's tedious, but the rates vary dramatically.

I asked AON if there was a discount for being a PCGB member, he quoted me with and without, there was an £12 difference. so im sure the savings would soon add up, but for me at the minute I just want to see if I take to the car and the people on the forum. I am just hoping everyone dosent turn out to be like JR!

I got 10% in my first year - only on a £240 policy but still worth it to me, about half the subscription. 10% for a 24-year-old might be a little more...[&o]

ps, it should be spelt "doesn't". [:D][:D][:D]

Wow guys found some cheap prices! Wish i'd got that lucky, i was paying 1830!
Depends alot on where you are, and what you use the car for.

There is a BIG difference between quotes for a daily driver, only car, parked on the road, and quotes for a second (or third) car, on a classic policy, tucked up snug in a garage every night.

I pay about £600 to leave mine on the road in East London, only car, more NCB than I can count, aged <early 30's>, no points, unlimited milage, business use. (The only consolation is that I was paying £550 for an old Golf immediately before.)

Much the same advice as everyone else, except I'd emphasise what's said elsewhere: go for an agreed value policy. My S2 is insured with Heritage and when my first one was rear ended by white van man it was written off. Heritage paid up promptly and what's more they took the b*****d to court to recover the uninsured loss. Very efficient and understanding too.

Thanks for the advice about the agreed value, thats interesting to find out. i'll be asking about that. got a quote for £733 comprehensive so thats loads better. gonna try A-plan when I eventually get through to them. Grrrrr

Hi all, I'm new to the boards and am seriously considering a 944..

The thing is, I'm 21! I think the insurance will kill me. I've had no points or claims, I have 2 years NCB and will be garaging the car per night. I don't intend to do silly miles per year, and I won't be tracking it. what advise would you give to head me in the right direction?

Car wise, I'm still looking. My limit is £6000. I saw a 2.5 Lux (?) at a local car dealership this morning for £3995. It was black, had the turbo wheels, sun-roof, full cream leather interior etc but had nasty rust on the sills and inner arches! I was gutted!!!

So would I be......[] The best Lux will struggle to reach that level, there are some decent ones out there at well under £3k.

The only advice I can give is to really, really thorough when searching for your insurance quotes. Everyobdy can get a good deal, it's just a question of finding who from "¦ and everybody finds their one good deal with a totally different company!

I started off paying over a grand for my insurance on a 944 Lux, but two years later I'm down to only three hundred and odd for my Turbo as a daily driver and £125 for my Lux as a garage queen.

If you head to the www.tipec.net and click the insurance ad at the bottom of the homepage, that search engine usually comes up with at least one good suggestion (my £125 quote came from Performance Direct through the TIPEC search). Another good option is to call T.R. Young on 01206 821330 and ask for Stuart - they are an old-school independent broker who can usually dig up some good classic car policies, but expect to end up with limited annual mileage allowances.

Try rh specialist insurance division(advertised in porsche post)01277 206912.
I got fully comp insurance for £125.00 and they insured through equity red star insurance. This is the second year that I have insured with them and it only went up £5 on last year[:)]
