looking for me at Eynsham Hall

In case you're looking for the 944 Register area at Eynsham Hall, there won't be anyone at the Register Display area. [&:]

Apparently, there will be a display of cars in the car display bit but the Register area will be inside the Hall. I'll be around the inside area for most of the weekend, so please come and introduce yourselves!

PLEASE don't look for the guy in the Porschefile - it's obviously not my picture. I'll be the young, good-looking guy from the first Porschefile [:)]

Look forward to seeing you all there, and hoping you have a great weekend!

Eh? What happened to the gazebos?

I thought there was going to be a gazebo at each Register display to act as a focal point for all the enthusiasts wanting to look at each individual model and ask questions about their own car among like minded people [8|]

I specifically requested a shared gazebo between the 924 CarreraGT crowd and the Boxsters, as we have "special" anniversary displays this year, and would obviously need to be on the stand pretty much throughout the event.

Categorical "No".

There will be no Register Gazebos I'm afraid.

Paul should be easy to spot for those of you who haven't met him before. As you can see from the photo he's exactly the same height as a 944 [:D]

Actually, he looks a bit shorter! Is he a member of the tribe in Africa that walked around in the long grass, the Fugawi tribe?[:)]
Cheers,

As long as he's got that teardrop mirror stuck to his elbow it shouldn't be a problem.

Don't be silly. That would never work. Let's be honest.... that is they way it has always been done. Well, apart from Brands last year when (without a gazebo) Nick almost died through sun stroke while manfully attending the 944 display. I don't see how the Heath & Safety Gnomes could condone such an outrageous situation.

So, with no focal point to meet other 944 owners with cars on hand, and no track action, one is given to wonder why we bother - aside the camp fire of course.

And now that I'm on my soap box....Who thought it would be a good idea to have the Annual Car Park on a Bank Holiday weekend.........and then not use the Bank Holiday? This is a bad idea because of so many things not least of which being:-

1. Bank holiday weekend . Therefore, the whole world, his dog and his mothers second cousin, will all be out on the roads going to or from somewhere. The roads will be the inevitable gridlock and Porsche enthusiasts will be trying to avoid their beloved but ageing sports cars going into melt down.

2. Many people combine this Bank Holiday in their Summer Leave thus getting an extra day for free. As they will be away on holiday they won't be available to swell the ranks of Porsche enthusiasts.

3. Those of us that are going will waste a perfectly good long weekend when we could be doing something over three days rather than just two days (If we are staying).

4. Those that aren't staying are more likely to do something else which makes better use of the three day break rather than just go to a Car Park (half) full of Porsche's for the middle day of the three.

I'm getting to the point of thinking, if it wasn't for the camp fire, I wouldn't bother going.

In all seriousness, points 3 and 4 are pretty much why I am not going. It was something I considered, but ultimately I don't want to waste the Bank Holiday.

I was flattered until I remembered I owe you a cheeseburger from the TIPEC meet.

Having just done the 'Ring (4 whole days with travel) the weekend before was an equally contributory factor in the decision as messing up the long weekend. A good excuse to meet up with people such as yourself, Rick, Tony, Paul plus others (and new faces for the first time) was the only plus really and it would have been expensive to rejoin the Club and buy a ticket. I'm sure (or at least hope) we can find an excuse to meet in September or October.

There's Husbourne Crawley on September 23rd or the PCGB Autojumble at Cornbury House on 1st October.

I know I'm doing my Grumpy Old Man bit again but, with eBay, I don't see the point in Husbourne any more. It has become so small that the only reason for going is for the lunch.

Hi Paul, John, Fen...... I back you entirely over the Gazebo issue and your other comments.

I shall be there on Sunday, but now that our Register Display areas which were always the focal point of the National Event have been made redundant, the chance of meeting up with anyone seems quite remote.

Have a great weekend, whatever you decide to do!

The registers and concours is on the other side of the house to all the other things going on. No central (focal) point at all, nowhere to go to shelter from the showers that are forecast on Sunday.
Bring your macs![:)]

I think I mentioned this earlier in the year, you could have got a job helping Tony Bull marshalling the Porsche car park[:D]
Personally I`m off to Notting Hill Carnival with the lads,
Have fun...

I'm normally the happy go lucky positive one (its the fumes from the paint thinners [:D]), but I might join John in being a grumpy old git this year. I'm sure one of the officials told me the new Porsche bought Gazebos looked magnificent (I wish I could remember who?[&:] )

I'm still up for lunch at Husbourne Crawley too [:)]

Paul, The new Gazebos are very nice and very substantial. The 964 Register got one from Cornbury House to use at the Thames Valley event earlier this year. There is a picture of our happy group of members and cars at the bottom of page 79 of the September Porsche Post. Of course we also used the super folding chairs that were supplied to all registers by the Club.
Say no more!
