Can't find what I need, but I want a diagram of the overall sizes of the flat 6 Boxster engine and it's manual box.
I am thinking of using a drivetrain from a Gen 2 Boxster in my hill climb car which currently has a 3.2 air cooled 6 with a 915 gearbox.

Anyone know of such a diagram please?

It needs to go in here, and it is VERY tight in places.

Frere's '911 Story' 7th edition has detailed descriptions of the M96-01 (and 996 GT3) engines and associated transmissions, but a quick scan of the chapters doesn't show dimensional information.

Given the added complexity of 4 cams and water cooling jackets vs finning in a similar capacity flat six, its hard to see how it could be smaller ! Don't forget the weight of coolant, pipework and rads. The gearchange is cable, which may assist you ..

I vaguely remember someone in the US dropping a GT3 engine into an earlier 911 but .. ?

cheers, Maurice

Indeed, nothing gets smaller with time...
I think the best route is, when I can, to visit the PCGB club house where the wire frame Boxster is, all naked an spend an hour or so with a tape measure.

Oddly enough Graham I was about to suggest exactly the same! I think that there’s an engine on display as well, maybe a from 996(?) which could also be useful.

I have Paul Frere’s book on the Boxster but as Maurice mentions in his comment on Frere’s 911 book, there’s nothing which you’d find useful. Really you need to get hold of an engineering layout drawing. Perhaps you can get something via Porsche HQ in Reading, but I’ve no idea who you should approach, although surely someone in the Clubhouse could point you in the right direction?

Oh, yes, i meant to mention the engine at Cornbury, slices off it as I recall but enough to be valid ..got distracted going to Rennlist (on the transplant route) by a 993 Cup Car clone .. [8D]

C'est la vie ! cheers, Maurice
