Loose spoiler on 968

For some time I have had a squeaking noise from the rear of my 1993 968 coupé, and the spoiler seems a bit loose (moves very slightly up and down). I think the fitting screws have probably rusted. My garage here in Holland has told me that this is a common complaint with 968s and the only way to remedy it is to replace the entire back door/tailgate with one that is in better shape. They have quoted me about €1,250 (£1,000) plus VAT to find a good used door and fit it - which seems a bit extreme for a squeak!. Although they cannot guarantee anything, they have indicated that they have never heard of a spoiler actually coming off, but I suppose there is a first time for anything!
Has anyone had any experience of this or can anyone recommend useful action I might take to remedy the problem?
Cheers,
Mike L

Mike, a member on the porsche968uk forum has recently done a thread about repairing the mountings for his spoiler, suggest you join us over there (there's a joining fee, but for 968 owners it's worth it!!).

You may not know, but there's at least 1 other 968 in Holland - in Den Helder. His name is Tom Bradley and he's also active on 968uk, IIRC his car is a yellow tiptronic coupe.
