Loss of power!

Was out last night in my car, having fitted a boost enhancer only a week ago, showing off my new found scary acceleration to a 3.2 Carrera owner. Under hard acceleration, the car seemed to lose power at around 4-4500 revs, almost as if it were hitting an imaginary rev limiter. It did this on three or four occasions and then seemed to clear itself.
I am not at all mechanically minded, but wondered if there might be a fuel supply issue at work here.
Anyone out there have any thoughts or suffered similar experiences?

I' ll jump to conclusions (as it' s the easiest thing to do [:D] ) and say your boost enhancer is causing the overboost (OB) protection to cut in. The enhancers all come preset from the factory at 10psi but some cars are a little sensitive to this (mine was) and trip the OB.
Was the loss of power sudden and drastic at approx 4k revs in 3rd or 4th gear? This is the classic symptom, though others have seen it in 2nd gear too []

Look at the fine tuning guide at http://www.autoporsche.co.uk and turn it down one ps1 then go out for a blast. If it still triggers OB then turn down another psi until it stops. Each time you trigger OB it will restrict the cars revs for a while until you switch the ignition off. This resets the OB protection.

I hope it is as simple as this [&:]

Note: I have to turn mine down 1 psi over winter because the cooler air is denser, the car makes more power and the OB triggers more readily.

It is, indeed, exactly as you describe it. It happened in both third and fourth gear. Will adjust it, hopefully the right way, and take the car out for a run.
I appreciate the advice, Paul.
Many thanks again.

Just as an update, I had to back the boost enhancer off two full turns and it seems to be running sweetly now. [:D] The reponsiveness of the engine is absolutely staggering, compared to the dark old days before the boost enhancer was fitted. And it was bloody quick then!! [:)]

[:D][:D]Phew! [:)] I' m glad that is all that it is then. I have heard of a myriad different reasons for triggering the OB protection. Sometimes vacumn leaks, split exhaust, wastegate problems, electrical sensors etc

Happy Boooooooosting! [:D][:D][:D]

Certainly never experienced the OB protection cutting in before I had the BE fitted, so pretty sure that the engine was just over-sensitive to it, at the factory setting. Will be keeping a close eye on things, but no news means good news!!!!
Cheers again, Paul.

By the way, should I be at all concerned about the fact that I had to back off the BE, because my engine seems to be sensitive to it? I' m not doing anything any damage, am I?
Sorry, just panicked for a moment there. I' m fine now - Will talk to my engine and reassure it that everything' s OK and I still love it. Nurse!!!

The cutting out was probably the overboost protection system cutting in - it' s there to protect the engine from getting more boost than it can handle - so it was just protecting itself as it should - so sleep soundly! (unfortunately some tuners remove the overboost protection and the engine then won' t cut allowing the engine to destroy itself)
