Lost Speedometer Sender

Having finally had the chance to get under the car to check/clean the speedometer sender to cure a fluctuating speedometer I cannot find the sender.
The car is a 2.7 automatic - supposedly one of the August 1989 runout cars.
From the workshop manual, parts listings, and answers to my previous post (Fuctuating Speedometer) the sender should be above the N/S drive shaft. However I cannot see anything with wires attached anywhere above the driveshaft. Any ideas where I might look.

The previous speedometer problem appears to be fixed now and seems to have been caused by a poorly fitted connector at the back of the instrument panel. The connector nearest the speedometer was not properly latched in place - found out when I replaced missing instrument bulbs. Only now I seem to have the anti-lock brake warning light illuminated but as it came on when I braked I';m hoping its one of the wheel sensors.

White 2.7 automatic

Hi Mike

I seem to remember on mine when I had a similar issue that it was actually on top of the gearbox which makes it quite difficult to get to! Ended up getting mine changed when it was in for a service and that fixed the issue.

Regards

Nathan,
Many thanks for the info. - that could be why I was having difficulty finding the sender.
