Low Boost

If I accelerate quickly the car tries to cut out at 3000 rpm until I take my foot off.

If I accelerate moderately when I get to 3500 rpm the engine sounds like its hit a rev limiter. As above no boost is shown on the gauge.

If I accelerate very slowly the engine runs smooth at high revs but the boost only goes to 0.2 bar

I have already changed AFM,TPS,KLR and DME

I have studied Clark's many times but always open to ideas.

A quick check on wastegate condition is too start from cold and feel if the pipe from the wastegate to exhaust system heats up. It should stay cool at tickover as the exhaust gases should all pass through the turbo and out the rest of the exhaust system.

FIXED[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

I am a little embarrassed to admit what it was[:)]

I Remove the banjo bolt connector from the back of the intercooler pipe as Andrew suggested, no difference.

Put the car on ramps to check the waste gate and thought I would check the intercooler as Fen had pointed out that low boost would alter the mixture.

There it was........a pipe disconnected from the intercooler[:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]

In my defence my intercooler has twice as many joints than standard as it has been fitted low down for more airflow. I could only see the bottom joints from under the car.

This joint must have started leaking about 6 months ago when I first experience a triggered knock sensor, about 3 weeks ago it must have come off completely.

Just off out for more testing.........

The car is better than it has ever been! I am thinking this problem started before I purchased the car.

Its a little bit quicker, more torque and a lot smoother.

The idle is perrrrrrrrrrrrfect

I have not put the boost enhancer back on yet, I think I will leave this until the spring as the new rubber on the back was just breaking away on standard boost.

Many thanks to Fen, Andrew and 944Turbo

Good news Mike [:)]

I'm intrigued about this intercooler of yours? Is it a standard one, but lowered, or is it a custom build?

The standard intercooler has inlet and outlet clearly visible at the top of it.

Good to hear that it was something simple and free, rather than complex and expensive [:D]

Standard and lowered........... up side down and back to front IIRC

No Aircon to get in the way.

Are you sure? I can't imagine why anyone would run a standard one back to front as the inlet and outlet would face forward and need a 180 degree bend to get back to the turbo outlet and throttle body, which would make the pipes longer than necessary when you want them short. Then again did you say at Oulton it is in front of the rad in which case the connections would have to go forward or through, which might not be a great idea for the coolant...[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]If that is the case then surely the standard position would be better?[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Here it is, on the home made rusty brackets!
