Low mileage 2.5 or higher mileage 2.7

Firstly, let me just say how excited I am about the prospect of owing my first Porsche !

As with any purchase, I am never able to sleep at night until I feel I have seriously researched everything about the product and determined the best buy/value for money.

My question is thus : I have a budget of £20k max - preferably a bit less. Searching through autotrader, it seems that for this sort of money my options are

97/98 2.5 30-40k
or
99 2.7 60-70k

Normally, I would tend to lean towards the lower mileage examples - not that 60-70k really worries me as I do not consider that to be excessively high mileage - but a lower mileage will certainly help with resale and hopefully mean less on repair bills

Just how different is a 2.5 from a 2.7 - Road reports say one thing but I have never seen these two compared directly - is the difference really noticable ? If I get the 2.5 will I be always wishing I had the 2.7 ?

What do you experts suggest would be the better buy here ? I had intially believed a 2.7 to be out of reach with a £20k budget but I have seen a lovely looking red 2.7 with 61k, 2 owners, FPSH for a very reasonable £17. If I miss this, should I continue to hold out for a higher mileage 2.7 or go for the low mileage 2.5 ??

Any help is greatly appreciated - I need my sleep !! [;)]

[&o]2.5's are great cars I know I had 2 before moving upto the "S". I have driven friends 2.7's and have to say their is a difference between the 2.5 & 2.7's so would suggest you take time out and drive a 2.5 back to back with a 2.7 and that way you will know first hand which suits your needs as well as pockets [;)] Good Luck with the hunt its all part of the fun of owning the best sports car in the world [8D]

That's a nice price for a nice car that's just about run-in.

I know alot of people say this - but this is the best looked after posrche around, its used as my 3 rd car, it onlly ever ben dry summer used, 1 previous owner, because it does so little mileage, i have had the yearly porsche servicing done.
It is now coming to 23500 miles. I have all the lights upgraded. It is always garaged and i clean it personally every sunday morning.
It is as new inside out, not a scratch on body, alloys or interior ( the leather is not even cracked yet!) and its still as 'tight' as when it left the factory.
And it has never had an RMS leak - full inspection welcome!! Ramp aswell , its bone dry! Its my pride!!! good home wanted!
