low mileage 944 cabrio wanted

Hi All,

I am looking for a nice 944 cabrio with less than 80,000 miles (or thaereabouts), few owners and full history.

Are there any left?

Best regards, Barry

Eporsch have two black ones that more or less match your description, they're not cheap though.

I think (although I may be wrong) that Sticker on Pistonheads last owned the 87000 miler. I remember considering it when I bought my Coupe and he was looking at the same time. If I'm correct, I'm not sure why it has ended up back at Eporsch but you could contact him through PH to find out.

Yes, they are, but you may need to be patient for one. The R19 RO has a pristine cab well under 80k, but I very much doubt he will part with it. Indie's like Specialist Cars of Malton are worth checking, but you will pay a premium over any excellent 944.

Contact Sean Smallman the TIPEC chairman I know he was looking to sell his red cabby. I think it would fit the bill.

I'm not a slave to watching 944 cab prices but from recent casual browsing they seem to be all over the place at the moment, possibly because of downward price pressure from Boxsters I suspect. Maybe not the pristine sub 80,000 mile category though.

Yes about 50,000 miles under 80k actually. Well, now after the Dartmoor weekend just a tad over 34,000 miles on the clock

Tough choice. Pay 11-13,000 for a good Turbo cab and worry about cam belts or buy a Boxster for the same price and worry about the sides of the middle pair of cylinders breaking out or keep forking out for RMS issues.

Hi Dougie,

Thanks for the info about the car at Carnoustie, i am going to view the car on Thursday, will let you know if I buy!

Best regards, Barry

I wouldn't be hung up on mileage. They take wear well, are easily "adjusted" to display whatever figure someone wants them to (and FSH plus every MoT isn't insurance - someone could knock 10-20k off every year just before MoT time and you would never tell).

Just look for a nice one from an enthusiast that has been looked after, especially recently, and you'll be fine as well as saving yourself some money. I sold my cab with 192,500 on it and aside a cosmetic biff in the front wing (from a French camper van driving tw@t at Le Mans) it was spot-on and would have passed for 92,500 miles easily. It had had a new hood, suspension refresh, replacement cams, brake refurb etc. and had spent the previous 50k miles being used daily and getting 6k oil changes. It was therefore reliable and wanted for nothing mechanically - not something I'd trust a low miles garage queen to provide.

there is a very very nice one for sale in Harrogate, I almost bought it a couple of weeks ago when it was traded in, it really is an excpetional example and only has 50,000 miles (somewhere around 55k) its red.

I have seen the car as well as the 911 targa 3.2 he has and suffice to say they are "sickeningly good".

You might want to drop him a line to enquire?

You can pm me for his email address.

Best regards,

Bert

Oh and I forgot to say: price wise you might be surprised, as it is a private sale....

Anyhow, I edited my original post to include some info Rich send me.

Good luck in your search,

Bert

Interesting it has forged wheels rather than the original D90s. It's the first white Turbo cab I can remember seeing.

Edit: I see the wheels are listed in the spec.

The cabriolet didn't really do it for me until I got the breakdown of this particular one.

From my understanding, Rich wants it to go to a good home rather than him needing to count the gold bullions[;)]

Best regards,

Bert
