This car is in very good original condition, in a rare colour with very low miles. The interior shows virtually no sign of wear and the paintwork is excellent, bar the usual stone chips on the front PU and sill panels. The car needs no major work to my knowledge and has been maintained correctly by the best independent specialists during my ownership. I have kept the car garaged and covered and have avoided use during wet weather and in winter.

£15,500

Probably going to swap my 3.2 for a 968 next year - for the extra practicality. This looks perfect so it's a shame about the timing.

As a matter of interest, what's it like on running costs - servicing, fuel economy etc.

Cheers

Iain

Good choice, are you sure you cant do it now. Davids is probably one of the best on the market[;)]

Not having run a Porsche before I cant comment on how the running costs would compare. The main thing is to do your research (same with any Porsche I guess) and only buy a car that has had all the major work carried out (or ensure it doesnt need doing). If you do this the runnings costs will be fairly low because only routine servicing will be required. I get around 25mpg on my car but I know some of the other guys get more, especially on log runs. I dont know where you are located but Hartech are thought as being the best when it comes to servicing the 968 so check out their website for the prices.

Check out the 968 site for all the information you will need www.968uk.co.uk

Thanks for your input.

I do know the 968 site as they have always interested me. To be honest I know that for my daily driving it's a better car, it's just that I can't quite get past that "it's not a 911" thing. 911s have always been a great love of mine.

However, the practicality thing seems to be becoming more of an issue so watch this space.........

Crazy I know, but when the car is that age and still a low-miler you almost don't want to buy it as a daily driver. It stands out from others partly on it's mileage and personally I'm not sure I'd want to buy it and start running up 15,000 miles a year when it's taken 21 years to do 45,000. It'll soon become 'another' 968.

I know it's wrong in many ways not to use a car as good as this (or any other 968) daily, because they're more than up to it.

Bit of a quandary, unfortunately for me it's not one I have the pleasure of considering []

Sorry, but cars are for driving.

I understand your point but it's far sadder to hide them away than to put some miles on them and if you look after a Porker it'll generally look after you. Also, I think cars run better with regular use.

If I were to keep a car in the garage it would be a high miler - like providing a retirement home for old Porkers!

Well, I agree with both of you! I appreciate that cars are for driving, but when I bought my 968 I was working abroad for seven months of the year and didn't need a car at all really. Now I am commuting daily I have a diesel car to keep costs down, and I find that the 968 hardly leaves the garage....[8|]

Hows the CD player Phil? You don't fancy the 968 to go with it then?[:D]

The majority of 968 (and most other Porkers of the same age I guess) are ether very close or over 100K. Davids car is such low mileage that it is always going to have less miles than the majority anyway.

Hi all,

Iain, I agree, I did say they should be driven, but I'd feel more comfortable buying one with 90k miles than 45k one if I were to use it every day. I guess it's because you'd feel like you're ruining a part of what makes that car special by running up high miles (albeit stil lower than average) - I can't explain it to be honest, so don't ask [&:]

The CD players fine David. I did ask at the time if I could have the car to go with it... [:D] ... good luck with the sale, I'm afraid I'm not in the market right now
