damn...

apart from that post here about that sub 30k mileage 993 C4S selling at £39k....

on 911uk another one at 21k miles appeared up at £39k.... surely not I thought........... but half a dozen enquiry emails later and within 3 days it's also sold for the asking price !!!

damn...... now that is a low mileage model in demand..... very interesting

yeah, but I've found that low mileage 993s = problems! These cars love to be used and low mileage does not always equal better...

agreed 100% sadly we know too much ! condition condition condition

my assumption is that the regular car buyer is all about low miles.... but with 2 low mileage cars selling in days, a fact that can not be ignored !

Cash buyers who just WANT the lowest mileage widebody 993... those cars are destined for the concours/collection... not necessarily to be driven (sadly)...

Hi guys
What do you consider low mileage I have a 1997 C4S on an R plate with 37,000 miles, I drive it every week around 140-150 miles except in the winter when it is parked in the garage, it's in great condition but I don't consider it to be concourse but I would be chuffed if I could get £39,000 for it.

imho

V.Low mileage = anything that averages <=2.5k miles a year
Lowish mileage = 5k miles a year
Average mileage = 7.5k a year

low mileage/frequent start/stop traffic due to just not getting used rarely yields a strong/leakfree engine. if you sleep in bed for too long, you get bed sores and not fit!

time to start driving backwards to work ! [:D]

I posted a about a year ago how I felt that the 993 market was splitting into two distinct markets. One market for low mileage, varioram, decent colour, typically manual cars that appeal to collectors. And then the rest. The first market would harden in price and the other would continue to slowly decline.

Seems this is finally arriving. I own a mid thirties mileage varioram coupe and I know I could sell it word of mouth for a nice price because of its condition and the fact it ticks all the boxes above. Of course it's not for sale which is why prices for these cars have hardened. Talk to independents and they tell you good late model cars are hard to find now the 10 year mark has been reached.

Not surprised by this at all.

Ian.

It's nice to think that your car's always worth loadsamoney, but I'd much rather have a great condition, well taken care of, "˜highly enjoyed whilst driving' one! If you buy a car to keep as an investment then it might as well be any old marque - buy a 911 to drive it!

At least if it's high mileage it's probably been reliable, especially if it's hasn't changed hands often. I do wonder why people buy 993's and then don't use them. I used to know someone who bought Rolex Watches and Leica Camera's and put them unopened into a safe deposit box as investments - how mad is that !!

and here we have another one !!

http://ucl.porsche.de/ucl/plsql/uk/clients.show_car?sid_=563528972DF152DE988E2E3462ED54

so just like waiting at a bus stop, when you've never seen a 993 on sale at an OPC for ages then not one but another and even lower car has appeared...
so after that nice 97 Targa with 30 something miles here we have a 18,000 mile '96 C4S !! up at £40k...

which considering there were 2 up for sale on 911uk privately with similiar low mileage for £39k and sold within days, this one won't be around for long ! that one up at 39k with 21k, sellor sold to someone over the phone IIRC

and this at the same price (almost) is from an OPC..... so you even a years Porsche warranty (is that right? as it's only renewals's that are limited to 9 yrs or 125 miles IIRC) damn !!

where do they find 'em !!

Mines priceless.......

Unless they offer £39K +...........

Would be so tempted at that price............

Mad.

You can buy excellent condition 'average' mileage cars (75-100k) for 30k.

I know where my money would be going.....
