lower arms for '86 944 Turbo

The ball joints are shot on my '86 944 Turbo so looks like its time for new lower arms....

its £654 for the pair from Porsche or $1018 for both from Paragon (delivered from the US - might be able to save a few quid with exchange rates being so favourable?)

does anyone else have any secret suppliers that might save me some cash as these are horrifically expensive for what they are??

any help appreciated
Matt

Hartech or David Gilmour in Glasgow (or Porsch- Apart?) will rebuild them for circa £150 a side

ORIGINAL: mattpone

its £654 for the pair from Porsche

That seems a competitive price, the last time I had one it was £400 each IIRC

Is that after any discounts? If it isn't, it may be worth speaking to Chris at Exeter and I bet he could get it under £600 if you mention the forum. Apologies if that is already the rock bottom forum price [:)]

i got a rebuilt one (exchange) from porsch-apart for 175 each side with 2 yr guarentee, they look new. They get a porsche specialist to rebuild them, i cant remember which specialist it is tho, doh.

For the later offset I was quoted in the region of £900 for a pair (the M030 ones are fractionally dearer than std, but are in the same ballpark) so £654inc sounds like a great deal to me.

I don't think it applies in your case, but if your car is lowered substantailly or you plan to use the car heavily on track then it might be worth looking at the Rennbay rebuild kits too. I'm certainly very happy with mine.

Best regards,
Peter.

cheers folks

it's not going to be heaily tracked or lowered so might go down the rebuild route

rpm said they can recon and polybush the arms if the balljoints are ok for £195 per side but sadly my ball joints are shot

thanks

Got mine from Hartech. I was very impressed and would definately recommend!

I have pics but they are too big to post[8|] basically looked and performed like new. Made a big differnce to the way the car handled too.
