Lower bumper trim

I have an issue with the lower bumper trim coming loose. It's the plastic trim that surrounds the opening underneath the number plate where the black plastic piece slots in (the only way I can describe it - I have added a pic of the offending item). I have already lost it once and have just replaced it again which requires spraying in the body colour. Although it clips in it doesn't seem to be very secure and I don't want to replace it again. Could I add some type of adhesive to keep it in place?
My car is a 2007 Boxster S.
Thanks in advance.

If there is no way you think it will stay in place "as is" you could use some silicone bathroom sealant, just a few dabs and once cured it will hold firm and still be breakable with a little firm pressure or by sliding a thin blade between the silicone.

I think I'll give that a go. Thanks
Obviously make sure the surfaces are clean and dry, and once applied leave for at least (generally) 12 hours before subjecting the trim to any use.
