lower wish bone bushes 993

has anyone had to change lower wishbone bushes just would like information on the task i have new bushes was advised they could need replacing mot tester didn t pick up on it but was shown by pre inspection (long bar pulling up and down resulting in some movement)thanks.
 
The official way is to change the whole wishbone. I had mine done recently as part of a complete suspension upgrade. The wishbones are £160+vat each (Maurice you're out of date!). It really isn't worth messing about trying to change the bushes in the old wishbones. However, by the rules of the internet someone will be along in a moment to tell how they changed them in ten minutes at a cost of 60p.

Mine were still serviceable and not considered an MOT failure.However, at ten years if your are still running the originals then they are probably well past their best.

I'm changing my Monore shocks to Bilsteins next week. Would it be worth changing the bushes at the same time? Or is it advisable to change the complete wishbones instead? And is it worth doing the Anti Roll bars at the same time?

Does anyone have any views/experiences of the polyurethane bushes?

Depends on the age of your existing lower bushes. If they are the originals then I would get them changed, again I would change the whole lower wish bone.

I would also change the anti roll bar bushes as you will probably find that these have hardened and deformed.

Just checked and both the front wishones were replaced at the beginning of the year by the previous owner [:)]. Any thoughts on the polyurethane bushes?

My specialist reckons the p'urethane bushes don't like poor roads. As I'm in Ireland, I went for wishbone replacement.

Maurice, what is the benefit of the RS wishbones?

I am running RS suspension set up specs, PSS9's and 18" wheels. And as you know am a bit of track junkie, I suspect my wishbone bushes need replacing - was advised as such 4 years ago, just left them but aked for them to be checked at last service OK and OK at MoT, but I reckon I can feel movement.

Plus where did you get them from? (Gert?) Any demon deals out there?

John the only difference in the RS type is that the rubber is supposed to be harder so works better with more of a sporty set up... and it costs a few pounds more !

price wise, after some research (back last year) I found that due to the supply of these items being limited assuming your local OPC gives you 10% off the parts price, then it's the best place to get 'em......
