Keith,
Have you got the H&R on your 964, a couple of companies i've spoken to said to go for the Eiback progressive springs rather than H&R, is it worth paying the extra dosh for these or are you happy with yours?

I've just got myself a set of H & R's which came highly recommended from a friend. I was going to have a go at fitting them myself and then get the set up settings done by Micheldever Tyres who've quoted £150 approx. They've done loads of Porsche alignments and were recommended by the OPC.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Are you embarking on some other handling mods? I'm thinking of a strut brace too?
Good luck

I think I will be going with the H&R springs. Just can't afford a full spring and shock changover at the minute as it looks like the heater prob. I've got is going to cost a fortune. I would like to know what you think of the springs, I won't be getting them for a few weeks so feed back would be appreciated.
I've heard a lot of good reports about strut braces (on the 964RS register I think) so I think I will get one fitted at the same time at the springs.
Be careful fitting them yourself as I read on another post that the geo. setup was affected that much when fitting that someone lost about 4mm of tyre tread taking to get setup!

I fitted a strut brace last year and would fully recommend one - you can really notice the benifits ( even around town ).

I'm taking some advice from a man who knows........
Don't fit the lowering springs at the same time as the strut brace - that way you get to sample 2 separate improvements individually!
I'll be fitting the springs as soon as I get some space in a friends workshop. I'll let you know how it progresses and hopefully describe any benefits.
I'm getting a bit fed up with the high-rise 4 X 4 look!

You and me both Steve,
One of the things that made me look into this was having a sprayer 'friend' of mine look at the front of the car and laugh at the height it was sitting. Just before I could get to the 'yeah well at least I've got a Porsche to ride high' comment he brought out my fav. looking car that he'd just brought....dark grn DB7. B*ST**D.

Yep.......
You're not going to top that!
And I guess he's not going to feel jealous - is he?

Fitted some H & R lowering springs on Monday and the car now looks exactly as it should - in my view! The changeover was quite easy and went really well. A few minor disconnections in the engine bay for access was about all, and then a straight one-for-one exchange. I also cut the bump stops down by 30mm. The front top mounts proved a bit awkward to un-do but the surrendered in the end.... Fortunately all the bushes seemed good and the dampers were ok so there were no extra hidden cost lurking.
Not many miles coverd since but very pleased so far. I'll be able to give a proper report after the alignment check this afternoon. I can say that the ride hasn't become really harsh or crashy and it has kept the civilised feel, albeit slightly harder.
I'll let you know how the alignment goes.
Regards
Steve
