Lowering springs with PASM.

At some future time I might, for purely cosmetic reasons, want to fit lowering springs to my PASM equipped 987.2 S to achieve the same wheelarch gap as an ‘R’ but I don’t want to make the ride any firmer.

Is that likely to be possible or is it a given that lowering springs will result in a firmer ride?

Thanks.

Andrew,

By lowering the car it’s inevitable that the springs will need to be stiffer to compensate for the reduced the suspension travel. Personally I wouldn’t bother - your PASM equipped car is lower than standard anyway and you may end up with an inferior ride. Is it really worth the expense just to reduce the ride height by about 10mm?

Jeff

Jeff, I’m inclined to agree with you that it’s probably not worth the expense just to lower the car by another 10mm but I felt it was worth asking anyway.

Andrew.

I agree with Jeff, my 987/2S has PASM and the ride is fine given whichever setting is in use depending on the road surface, when I had an alignment done on my 987/1S at CG they actually found that my car had settled and ran about 8mm lower than standard so if you're thinking of lowering best to first know exactly where you are starting from.
