Lowering

Has any one lowered their '12? If so is it a big job?
Any pitfalls to avoid, quality parts to purchase?

It's a simple job at the front, a bit more tricky at the rear. Needs a bit of brute force and careful measurment

Mine is lowered about 40mm
see here

Unless you have done this before and have all the right equipment I would leave it to a pro, you can get in a right pickle chasing your tail doing this... [;)]

ant

same as a beetle on the rear the front is just one bolt to undo and the rear is on splines have done mine on the floor[8D]

i tried lowering mine a few months ago and it seems to be at the max at the front, ive now got to see ow to get it any lower

I've lowered a beetle backend before (or at least had a helping hand for my brother).
So it's a case of how many splines? Is it like the beetle as in two splines is very low and one is about right for street?

Hi Ant, 101 Projects for your Porsche 911 has a chapter dedicated to this project, worth a punt just for that.

I have the info some where but your right it's the number of splines v the height and if I am not mistaken it's one set of large splines and one set of smaller splines?? will be doing the same very soon. Now just got to get those 18" Alloys under the arches[&:]

Tjark I had the same in the past one side was able to be lowed more than the others just a case of taking off the backing plate and getting a pair of C clip plyers to remove the old clip and moving it round a spline and replaceing it all and then lowering it it worked a treat.

Has anyone fitted a bump steer kit (spacer washers) to their steering rack? I bought one the other day, but have since been thinking that perhaps my car wont really be low enough to need it. Currently the front is about three quarters of the way down on the adjusters. It could do with being about another inch lower at the front to match the back.. would that amount of lowering warrent the spacers I wonder?

See y'all in Reimes soon!
