Apologies for the cross post, but keen to get the views of you RS owners - yes I know I should have bought an RS in the first place but I am so far in with my 993 that the slope is vertical and I am in free fall!!

Hi all,

I am having engine work (350 BHP conversion by Ninemeister) undertaken on my 993 in the new year, as part of this work I am considering fitting a LSD, I spend 60% of my time on the track.

My car is a 1995 NVR with suspension upgrades - PSS9's RS a/r bars etc.

I have the offer of a 2nd hand LSD from a 964 40K miles, but am worried it will be worn out, the other option is the group buy that has just been announced on Rennlist http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=244842
for a Guards unit which seems the best bet.

Two questions:

1) Should I go for a LSD
2) If yes should I go for the group buy Guards unit

Many thanks

John

Hi John
LSd,the 964 one how cheap is cheap? The plates can be replaced for around £300,the ring would need to changed to yours, otherwise you will have to reshim the pinion.
Does the 964 one come complete with the ring gear?
Standard porsche would probably suit you best./964 one.
The race lsd,i run in my race car,its no good for the road.I have tried several lsd ,and have to say the standard 993 rs seems to be best for my rs.Lock up on lift/brakes is fine, its the out of the corner you have to worry about. All 911 understeer out of corners to some degree, tighter the lsd = + more understeer.
My rs plates are now worn and need replacing, not a big or expensive job, they also seem ideal for my hilclimb car, which gets driven on the road,up hillclimbs, sprints, track days etc.The main thing that hinders my progress in a corner,is normaly understeer, the wrong diff will make it even worse.
Dont put inferior parts in your car [:(],all though gt products are pretty good.
