LSD gearbox fluid.???

Now then chaps..
What is the best fluid/oil to use in a LSD gearbox , to help it change smoothly....+ how much is it + how much does one need..????

Dave, my S2 (without LSD) is having some Royal Purple as we speak (well not right now, the guys are probably asleep [:)]). I'll let you know if I feel any difference - not that my gearbox felt bad to me in the first place, but I have the oil changed every 2 years and the time was due.

I've had no problems with Swepco and will be installing same in my new gearbox next service.

Not wishing to rain on Andrews parade, but if you talk to a supplier of Red Line Racing Oils I have every confidence that they will also suggest that their product is the best. I use to use Red Line Oils in my racing car (Red Line was very well respected throughout the 750MC in all series from Formula V to Road Sports) and never found them wanting. The fact the Red Line Oils used to support 750MC events probably had a bearing on why so many people used their products.

On a similar note, my engine builder wouldn't guarantee his engines unless you used Castrol RS, which others have said contain viscosity enhancers which break down over a relatively short time.

So, in summary:- "Ya pays ya money you takes ya choice".

And by the way, Andrew is a very naughty boy advertising on the forum and if he doesn't stop it I'll have to start deleting his posts.

The jury is still out on Redline. I used it in my last change, and although when warm, it's bleedin fabulous, when it's cold, I do have problems especially into first.

Is splitting the transmission and diff a new ProMax conversion to ensure the optimum Royal Burple oil is used with each component.

Texaco semi-synth in mine. Can't say I have any complaints about shift, though the back end sounds a bit like a (real) Mini sometimes.

ORIGINAL: sweeteaAnybody know where I can find a 2.7 cylinder head for my 3.225 (that will be ready [ish] on Thursday!).

I've got one [;)]

Oh, I need it for my 3.225 which will also be ready[ish] on Thursday [:D][:D][:D]
