The 924S has acquired a new (to me [:D]) 944T gearbox with an LSD. Had to try it out on the back lanes around Silchester: They're gravelly and very suitable for a light car with a diff..

Initial impressions are that it makes a surprising difference to the balance of the car mid-corner. I like. The fact that on the way into the smoke this morning, the cruise along the M4 is even more relaxed in 5th, was a pleasant bonus.

Thanks to Alasdair (Sulzeruk) for supplying, and Promax for fitting it & doing a million other jobs while they're there...

Excellent Sean, this is high up my to do list too. Do the different ratios noticeably affect the car other than just on motorway cruising?

Hi Peter,
Only difference is that first gear is actually useable now. With the S2 engine/gearing in the 924 shell, in first the car yelped around like a MaxPower Nova in a supermarket car park..

That's good to know, it will be interesting to see if it changes the gears you're using at various corners, or is more subtle than that.

I find first gear is great for warming up tyres [:D]

Will you be running on Thursday evening?

Hi Peter,
No I've left it too late. I only picked the car up on Saturday, and I didn't want to book a trackday before I've had at least a minor pootle around to see if the LSD and I "bond"..

Simon, how's the build going? We ought to start a "wrong engine" 924/944/968 club. Honorary president will of course be the first bloke with an LS6..in a 1977 924 shell..
