Hi,
I'm currently counting the days until my garage is rebuilt and I have a block paved drive to get to it... and opportunity to put a 2nd hand Boxster S, in it. Having test driven a couple of candidates, I'm champing at the bit to buy one, and could throttle the builders. Still it has afforded me an opportunity to do some proper research, desirable options, glass rear windows, rms, 111 inspection, warranties, etc...
Anyway, slightly left field, but due to numerous sports injuries, I've a gammy right knee (hence the need for cruise... on the motorway only !) and a dodgy back (hence lumber support) and have sold on cars after not agreeing with them in either dept. So need to get this right!
In short, how difficult and expensive is it to retro fit cruise to 2002-2004 'S? (if its not sacrilege, like buying a tiptronic!)
And looking at some adverts lumber support is quoted (like an option), however the one I drove that purported to have lumber support, didn't have twiddly knobs on the side to adjust the suggested lumber support (like the option on my Golf TDI 'transport'), which made me feel the Boxster has just an inherently comfy seat, hey porsche design. And boy did it support me in all the right places. Perfect. Is it an option? (obviously it may reduce the number 'S's I'm looking at)
It sounds corny, but I nearly bought the first one I test drove. Just for seat! But my sensible head... and the plastic rear window (slightly opaque, coloured indicators), lack of secure parking put me off. That it went like stink, and boy did it handle. Most direct steering car I've even driven, since my Pug 1.9 GTI but the last 10yrs I've been on a diet of mildy warm front wheel drive Audi and VW's, so what would I know...
Oh and I like posing with the roof down. And all the ladies I've asked prefer Boxsters to TTs or 350Zs. Though at dangerously close to 40, balding, I am concerned I may become a cliche, but Cayman Ss are too much money. Someone suggested I'm on the cusp of the male menoporsche. Surely not. Not that I care!
Help me?
