Lycra, bikes and mud

Had to start another post as it was taking far too long to get to the bottom of the last one.

Time to try again and organise a Brickhill ride and actually get to meet up as well. Can't do much this weekend but can make a week on Saturday - is this the 6th ? I can russle a few chaps (and maybe even a chapess!) to cycle on the day.

Always happy, with enough warning, to do a Wendover trip as well.

OK all confirmed for a 9.00 am start with everyone meeting at the top of Church road/Sandy lane out of Woburn Sands i.e. where the road turns to mud/sand near the off road x-roads.

We have a couple of guys from Olney coming and a mystery (female) guest who will curtail any testerone induced sillyness during the ride.

I will ride up to warm the legs before so please don't go without me this time !! Will have my mobile with me as well. Chaps from Olney are called Graham and Guy and will probably be in an Audi Allroad Estate.

See you all there come rain or shine ..

Apologies, but I can't make it this Saturday.
Have fun.

I'll be pedaling on Sunday if anyone wants to join me.

oops...I have a rush construction project Graham - apologies for mix up [;)] etc ....

one of these days, it will happen

Steve

Well at least two club members braved the elements for what ended up as a good little ride.

Attached proof of the turn out along with photographic evidence of female rider who wooped us all !!

When's the next one guys ?

Excellent Graham

Like the snap. At the time of this, I think I looked like a swamp monster covered in 1 part cement to 4 parts ballast etc etc...

Anyhow your image has re-energised me for a pedal. What say sometime this weekend coming ? Sun AM ?? Same place ?

Game on. I'm up for a pedal on Sunday AM.
Sorry I missed the Saturday outing, but I did manage to fit in 4 hours around the Chicksands area on Sunday.

Not again! I just got the bike clean from Saturday!

OK I suppose I'll be there!

I need to get some forks with suspension else I'm going to lose all me teeth. I can't be spending tons on the bike (anything that goes on the bike is robbed from the 911) so I'll probably be looking for second hand maybe ebay.

Anyone know what I should consider in the 50-75 quid range and what the ins and outs of fitting to my Marin Muirwoods might be?

Cheers

Andy

shouldn't be a problem fitting suspension forks to your Muirwoods - I would go for something like a Manitou or a Rock Shox or Marzocchi and look for omething with 80mm or 100mm of travel for the muirwoods
best of luck!
just get out and ride[;)]

Andy,

As I said you just need to watch out for the dimensions of your headset as there are a couple of different sizes. Pop into Phil Corley and get him to tell you the headset size to look for and then go looking on e-bay.

Bike shox fall into four types.

Spring or Elastomer only - very rare, very cheap only appear on £99 Cycle King special bikes
Spring/elastomer - psring to soften the dwon/elastomer to damp the reaction. Bottom end shox use this method to good effect - especially if the elastomers are combined/graded i.e. progressive travel.
Spring/oil/elastomer - force oil through small holes for damping. Expensive and need care and attention on seals etc.
Air/oil - lightweight and top of the range

All brands mentioned by Andrew K are OK, if you need any help give me a call..

9AM this Sunday, meeting at the same venue - trying to get this thread back on subject. [8|]

Sorry guys I may not be able to make it as we have a packed weekend which involves a Saints Rugby game, the Arsenal match at Highbury and the end oif the xmas shopping. I am also away for the next two weekends - so tied up now until after xmas.

I will setup another post soon as we discused a regular 'first Saturday of the month' expedition that everyone can get in their diaries in advance. I for one haven't done Wendover before ..

Have a good one...

PS go gentle on Andy !!

Sorry Brian,

Probably can't make it tommorrow so don't wait for me if I'm not there.

Cheers

Andy
