Whats available for the 944?

I'm getting far too enthusiastic about making mine a bit special. []

There was a sport package available for the 968 Clubsport known as M030 factory option, bigger brakes and a few more goodies I think don't know if there were any 944 similar options than the awesome 944 Cup Car......there was a factory M003 option for the 964 RS.......which brought the car to full N/GT FiA spec......

There was M030 for the 944 also. I don't think brakes were included, but it's hard to say as every car I've seen with it was a 250 Turbo which had the bigger brakes anyway.

Others are much better placed to describe the Cup car than I am so I'll leave it to them.

The 944S2 and the 87-89 220ps 951 had the bigger "S4" brakes when fitted with the M030 option.

M030 was described as "Sports Chassis" so I don't think it is race spec parts. I'd guess the cup cars had something much more substantial and less road-friendly than M030. The differences between 968 M030 and 944 M030 as far as i've been able to gleen so far is the 968 had helper coil-over springs at the rear and the front ARB was a larger diameter. Not sure about the relative spring and damper rates though. I suspect 968 M030 might have been a stiffer set up than 944 M030 as the 968 club sport front spring rates are the same a 944 M030 but is a constant rate spring rather than a progressive spring and 968 M030 was an upgrade over club sport.

The question is did you actually mean M030 or is M0003 something different??

I find this forum a pretty good starting point for research. If you use the search function you can often find a plethora of info and links and leads to other sources for more info.

M030 springs are the same between 944 and 968.
Cup cars feature Bilstein shocks that are best effective when set on teeth-shattering stiff. Not much appreciable on anything but very smooth surfaces. Rear Bilstein Cup are full coilovers too, torsion bars still in place - meaning ride height requires much work to be correctly set.
Front Cup ARB is 30 mm (same as 968 M030) while rear is 21 mm and non-adjustable IIRC, while 968 M030 is 19 mm and adjustable (18 mm and non adjustable on 968 with Tiptronic).

968 M030 includes the bigger front brake calipers of the turbo 250 as base 968 came with the turbo 220/S2 brakes, with cross-drilled discs. Cup cars have similar front discs but they cannot be swapped as the hub height is different - related to caliper mounting points.
