M030 Calliper?

A mate picked up a very good set for £140 from ph a couple of weeks back - so they aren't that expensive

Wow that is good! Got a busted bleed nipple on it so needs replacing. Anyone know if 2004 996 T callipers will fit my M030 hubs?

If your front calipers are bigger than your rears, then it's possible - did they come with 030 suspension? - what do your option codes say?

AFAIK, the S2 had the same size caliper F&R.

The front are bigger than the rears, it doesnt have the M030 option code but the calipers were replaced by the previous owner in 2006 so may have been upgraded. The front calipers have 'Porsche' printed on the black paint were as the rears have 'Porsche' engraved in the caliper casing.

they would have had to have swapped the whole hub/strut assembly over - S2 caliper bolts point in towards the car along the line of the axle, 030 caliper bolts point toward the centre of the hub.

The best way to identify them without having other known parts for comparison, will be by their mounting method (mounting bolt orientation).

M030/928 calipers and Big Black calipers both have the mounting bolts running behind the Porsche script, if you will. Think starting at the top of the 'P' and running down behind the letter and coming out by the base of the 'P': so running from top to bottom as you view the 'Porsche' script. The 964/951/968 Brembos mounting bolts go through the caliper from outside to inside: so running from the front face as you read the 'Porsche' script, through to the rear face. Identifiction is a certainty with a guide as clear as this! [:D]

To make things harder..... Boxster Brembo calipers also mount in the 'top to bottom' fashion and adapters are available for those too, so this is more of a first step than a definitive diagnosis.

No they wouldnt. As adapter brakets are available....

Maybe only the spindle needed, or rather steering knuckle in PET speak? The 968 M030 also had different hubs but are they required?

Id say that you have to change it all, but thats to run the struts and caliper and rotors. Perhaps Dave means that the calipers alone can be run on a car utilising adapters?

Correct that man...
Yes you can fit JUST the [M030]caliper to the standard NON M030/turbo spindle using a adapter bracket/plate...
Ive done this on my car , with no probs whatsoever...
In fact if anybody wants a pair of these adapters, please PM me + ill see what i can do....[;)]

Would these adapters, on a standard series two hub, allow the fitment of 928S4/M030 calipers, along with (in theory) Big Blacks, Reds & Yellows?

Certainly works for Big Blacks - same bolt spacing as the "reasonably big blacks" I believe (minimum 17" rims) - I bet Lindsey & others could sell you the adapters.

There's a guy on Rennlist who's made adapters for the later caliper types - From Finland I think.

if you have not found one yet -- how about using your local precision engineering shop to drill out and helicoil a new M10 x 1 hole. my local guy has just done one for a friend and it cost £30 (that included him sourcing the correct bottom tap as the standard helicoil kit is for a through hole)

NB of course it is important that the new thread is concentric with the actual bleed hole in the caliper otherwise the bleed valve will not seal !
