Macadamia Metallic

Macadamia Metallic is Porsche Talk for Brown.

I am off this morning to finalise the spec for a Turbo Cab and I am going for the brown with a cocoa hood and sand beige interior.

The last brown car I had was a Rover 3500 SDI back in 1975 so I do feel a certain reservation having had more usual colours for the past 30 years.

What are your thoughts on a Brown 911 ?

Yep sorry Tony, I am with hg, not really my cup of tea at all. Browns and beiges are best left back in 1975 I feel. There was a mention of what age turbo drivers are in another recent thread, I am guessing that it would be the more mature driver that would be drawn towards such colours.
But hey its your car and your choice, if your happy with it then go for it & the best of luck to you...I would have thought though your resale price on such a colour combination may be somewhat wobbly so to speak

Well Porsche themselves seem to be leading with this colour, and I think it looks pretty good from the pics on the Porsche site...

I think that looks great [:)]

Please don't follow the sheep and order a boring silver / black / grey .... how dull are they ? [;)]

Hi we have a brown 911 turbo it was called expresso it looks stunning any one that nows my car would prob agree but it is a 1987 car but it looks really good ( well i think so anyway ) Bev and Daryl

I find the colour quite interesting, certainly away from the norm..
Same as the Cocoa interior, I think I'd need to see it first...
It does however look great on the publicity shots. [:D] and a good choice by their marketing team. Had it been Silver then I don't think it would have caught everyones eye as much.

Your Spec does seem very US inspired...

Alex, Yes it does look great in that pic you put up indeed, maybe I am totally wrong! I do think you need to see some proper pics of the colours in the flesh though, the websites have a great way of making many colours look great, that in the flesh are somewhat not great.
I remember when I was looking for an M6, the brown they did, sepang bronze, I believe, looked great in promos but not very pleasent in the flesh, so much so that when they came up for sale the sepangs where substantially cheaper than any other colour.
If the 997 TT looks like that pic in the flesh then yes I concede it looks very well indeed....and Im only 43!!

Tony Great colour choice. It will be a awesome car. Will you be going for PCCB if so will you get the calipers paited brown? I am seriously thinking of ordering a 997 Turbo Cab in the colour Porsche recenlty used when launching the Targa. Cant recall the colour name. What would you expect the wait to be on a Turbo Cab if I order one before the end of May?

Thanks

Justin

I was told last weekend that the TT Cab waiting list is enormous!! I would dread to think how long the wait would be.

I have been told to expect my Coupe around Christmas, but will know more in the next few weeks when Porsche AG issue the UK OPCs with their MY08 allocations. May be better, may be worse.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that with the introduction of the 2.3% price increase there will be a low demand. I can barely sleep with excitement right now; really don't know how I am going to last 6 months!!

That Ronnie C has opened a whole can of worms with that Turbo owners age stat hasn't he!! [:D]

Thanks for your comments. I am now about to drive off to Porsche Mid Sussex and think I will stick to my choice and dare to be different.

Re the calipers I think yellow would look good against the brown.[:)]

If anyone is interested I will post the full spec which should envoke some comments as sycamore wood trim is not to everyones taste either !

Roll on September 8th which is D day.

Ok, must admit it does look pretty good in the pic. but the resale will be hit with such an individual colour. But, as others have said, get what you want, not what others think is nice, it's your car afterall.
Didn't have much time with my first post as you can see!!
Hope you enjoy it more than I've been enjoying mine lately!

I think that colour is called Nordic Gold.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.......... worrying Chris...Very worrying. Is it really brown? Not like brown when we were kids, a sort of horible yucky colour. It actually looks....................sort of nice.........................worrying!

Think the colour is great and its about time we started to order what we want not what the salesmen want to re sell. There is 2 many 911's out there in silver or black with black or grey leather. Owning a 911 is not like owning a ford mondeo or vauxhall astra its about being different and enjoying the experience

sounds great to me.my dad had a mexico brown rover3500 with beige leather interior and when on hols in italy the local lads swarmed round it as if it was a ferrari in chiaro rosso.....
go tony go!!![:D][:D][:D]
