Hi Lancerlot

Just noticed you have a Macan.
I just ordered a GTS for delivery early December. it wont have the performance of your Turbo (I'll get my thrills from my GT3), but just wondered how you find the Macan as a daily drive?
Anything you don't like, or I should know?

thanks
Andy

Hi,
I don't have a Turbo, I have a Macan SD.
It's coming up for 2 years old in November. I've covered 17.5K miles and it has been a cracking piece of kit - great performance, handling and economy.
I had an oil change at 12 months as well as a PDK software upgrade and rear wiper mod to prevent screen skipping. There was a rear axle rumble initially too. This was noted by my PC, but has disappeared with use over time. The only thing I regret not speccing was the PDLS+ Headlight system.

The GTS will be fantastic,[:D]but make sure you tick the no cost 75 litre tank option under the "Transmission/Chassis" list, otherwise you'll be stuck with the 65 litre stock item and the petrol engine is not known for remarkable fuel economy.

Mike (Spook) our Register RS, has had 2 Macans now and may be able to provide further tips on spec etc.
Regards,
Clive

Hi Andy 997

I had an 'S' and now have a GTS - good advice from Lancerlot but best bet is to go to www.macanownersclub.co.uk where you will find plenty of threads on GTS ordering - in fact there is a brand new thread asking the very same question - the site is a mine of information on all things Macan. Great car by the way - I too have a GT3 and it has done a lot less miles this year! Not sure where you are based Andy but there is a 'Macanowners' meet at Windsor on 18th September - all are welcome.

Hi Andy, I have had my Macan GTS since the end of March, it's now done 3700 miles and so nicely run in. I spent a long time with the configurator with several specification changes from when I first placed an order back in February 2015 (for a Macan S Petrol) to lock down in January. It replaced my Audi Q5 and as a daily drive does everything I want though fuel consumption is not brilliant so you need to makes sure you spec the 75L fuel tank which will give it a useable range of about 300 -350 miles, an S Diesel will go for about 500 before you need to think about refuelling (I had one for 3 months and just under 3000 miles so I can make that comparison). As far as the specification goes if this is a daily drive in all weathers then I would advise against the standard fit RS Spyder wheels unless you enjoy spending lots of time cleaning wheels. I have the same wheels on my 991 GTS which look great but take ages to get cleaned up so I have the 21 inch sport classic wheels which are really easy to clean and Air Suspension to reduce the harshness of the ride on the lower profile tyres. Too many other options on my car to list[:D]

Andy, it's true that on that other forum is some useful information but you have to wade through the endless discussions on options, photos and other stuff such as why Sports Chrono is "essential" on a GTS etc. so if you want a sensible view on long term ownership from someone who also has a GT3 and knows a lot about the Macan do what Clive said and ask Mike who has been the Macan Register Secretary of the Porsche Club GB since the Macan was launched in 2014 and has probably covered many more thousands of miles in his Macans than anyone else on here or over there.

I've covered 42k in my Macan Turbo over the last 25 months, used as a daily driver, it's been good on tyres, had two services, a bit of warranty work along the way. It's comfortable fast and easy to get along with every day. Sometimes parking spaces aren't very Macan Friendly but that's not the cars issues! other than that it's a great daily driver.

Thanks to all for your input - I will look at the Macan ownersclub site .
Regarding delivery I was originally quoted 12 month delivery, but when they knew I was serious they miraculously came up with a build slot for December delivery !! Not that I am complaining as I cant wait to get my hands on it.

To be fair to Porsche GB I believe Porsche Germany has scheduled a lot more GTS's - whether that is as a result of forestalling Brexit cancellations or exchange rate pushing the price up at some future stage I'm not sure but there does seem to have been a ramping up of production for the UK. Whatever the reason, it is good news for you Andy - enjoy, you can't fail to.

Hi Guys,
Just put down deposit on Macan GTS and have a query about the audio system in the Macan. When playing a CD is there an internal hard drive, like on the BMW, which saves the CD so you only need play it once,
a very useful feature. The GTS to replace our BMW touring, and heaven forbid eventually the 997 TT Gen 1.

I don't suppose you know if the very original iPad we have will plug in via usb and play the music we have on it. We only use it these days to play music in the house and holds most of our music library

we take delivery of the car in late October

thanks

I suspect not as I was unable to get my early iPod recognised by the PCM. I solved it by transferring music to a USB flash drive and then copying tracks into Jukebox from there.

Clive

Ok thank you. Will have to have a play about once we take delivery or transfer music on to one of the newer iPads.

Be aware the manual says CD will copy to the Jukebox but on my May 16 Macan it will not. I am told others are the same. I am waiting for a software update to be released which may fix the issue.

Curiosor and curiosor, better start putting a load of CD's onto USB stick just in case CD into Juke Box doesnt work.
Delivery of my GTS now appears to be December brought forward from May 2017. Course my PDE slot now way past spec "freeze" point, but only not sure of power steering plus in my spec.
