Macan GTS

Hi, I’m actively hunting for a Macan GTS, around 17/18. They seem well specced as standard. Any must have options and is the pan roof an absolute must? Think I want the 18 way seats but after that I’ll consider anything.

Pano roof is desirable in Macan, but I think with or without, it won't affect the overall driving experience.

Personally, I'd go for the 14-way seats, since the bolsters are slightly lower and it makes getting in and out easier, also less wear on the upholstery, but I suppose it all depends on whether you will be using it as a daily UV or as a tourer for longer journeys. Shouldn't be deal-breaker though even if you find one with a different setup. [;)]

a set of winter wheels - bought some for my '17 GTS a few months back and really glad I did now.

watch out for the big 4yr servicing cost coming for all '17 cars too.

you'll want to make sure it has the bigger (75ltr) fuel tank

if you want to carry a roof box or skis etc you'll want the roof rails - these have to be ordered from new (the ones that are part of the roof, not the clip on bits I mean).

the standard gts seats suit me just fine - but all the alcantara bits deleted (I don't like sitting on alcantara but personal choice on that one).

other than that (and the pano roof which is of course nice) the rest is a matter of choice rather than necessity for me.

Yes conscious of the 4 year service cost with what I’m looking at. How bad is it, around £1k? Is PDK oil change at 6 years or 4? I’d quite like to buy one privately I think and from a fellow car enthusiast so keeping my eye on what comes to the market.

4 yr service was around 1,200 to 1,400 from memory. I had pdk oil done as it was mileage related and would have come due in the next 2 year gap before 5th service.

I think there are very few of these on the private market as they still command high prices and you will want the warranty (or a warranty). People sellling a 2017 car are most likely in a 2020/21 car now - so many/most of the more recent trades are going to be in the OPCs - older/higher miles in the indy dealers - hardly any private sales I would think (one or two on here maybe). If you did go private I'd make sure it has a warranty on it and if it doesn't get one as the repair costs for big items can be chunky.

On the Gen 2 Macan GTS and Turbo models I would unreservedly recommend the Air Suspension option.

For the sporting driver, the ride height flexibility and comfort, and in Sport and Sport Plus modes, the stiffer body roll control makes the car more enjoyable to drive on flowing rural roads.

The 18-way sports seats are excellent. The 21" wheel option also worthwhile for summer use if you like the look. No detriment to ride comfort in my experience.

A set of 20" wheels with Michelin Alpin 5 SUV N0 winter tyres probably essential for rural dwellers. So equipped, the Macan is a very capable winter vehicle.

This is a great car. I've had one for over a year now. I was aiming to purchase through an independent, of which i have two locally, but choice was slim. The OPC's had a better choice and in the end, I purchased from Porsche Leicester, which isn't local at all. Anyway, it's a March 2017 and had only 20k miles on the clock. A year later I've noticed that advertised prices remain similar. The bonus was that I gained a 2 year warranty rather than 1 year from the independent.

Mine has pan roof and pretty much everything else that comes standard with the GTS. It's a great all-round car both on the lanes and as a tourer. Happy hunting, there's plenty available in the market.
