Our Feb 16 Build Macan just received it's software update notice.

I have car booked in on Monday for this two hour piece of work. I'll post an update when work completed.

so a new map update is out, will have to contact opc to see if I can get my 981 boxster updated as I have 2013 maps on it.(only last week I fitted my old nav unit what was in my 987 (pioneer avic d3) to my focus ,got the update discs off e bay with speed camera data on for£12)

Software Update for PCM states:-

o Enhanced options for personalising the system
o The possibility of connecting two phones to your PCM in parallel via Bluetooth
o A learning navigation system: if requested, your PCM will learn your route and suggest alternative routes based on this - in event of a traffic jam, for example

So far I have used the 2 phone set up which is joy. My wife no longer complaining her phone is not the master.

Below a picture of Device Manager showing 2 phones use.

My 2016 Macan GTS went in to the OPC last Thursday 9th to have this update but unfortunately it's all gone wrong and the car is still there as of this morning?? The problem is the update for the instrument cluster not downloading correctly. Anyone else having the same problem? In the meantime I have a very nice 2017 Panamera 4S Diesel to use which is a very rapid car.

Well I got the car back on Monday, all working except for not able to assign the steering wheel button to Surround View. The option is there to select on the multi function display but nothing happens so back to the OPC next week[&o]

The Panamera 4S Diesel was an interesting experience, very rapid with that 4L V8 and 850Nm of torque and an extremely quiet and comfortable drive but the cars length is something else at more than a foot longer than the Macan and slightly wider its not an easy car to live with.

I had to complete the standard Porsche Survey yesterday. I explained that for a software update their standard template survey really does to work as its designed for physical effort i.e service and not an IT type activity. I further added some members experiencing real issues and so they need to work out how to do this better. This is not a fix for today but will be for tomorrow.

My update has worked but took me ages to get my personalisation back as it was..... Also was supplied an updated handbook. Did anyone else get this?

Have had had one glitch since. The right hand instrument screen came up blank for sat nav and only worked again after leaving car parked for a while. Just heard this has happened on another car but it was not a Macan. Anyone else had this issue?

I'm no further forward, second visit to the OPC and still not possible to select Surround View from the steering wheel button even though it can be selected and assigned in the menu. My guess is that the Park Assist Control Unit is not compatible with this latest software that has been loaded on the PCM and Instrument Cluster so it needs an update but that update probably requires a hardware change to a module with compatible firmware. Hopefully the third visit will result in a fully working system.
The OPC have done their best working with the information they have so I cannot criticise their sustained efforts to make the update work, but I think they are without full information from Porsche as I really don't think that Porsche themselves have fully tested the update on early PCM 4 cars with the Surround View option. Porsche really need to review how they roll out these updates out to the OPCs, as these cars are becoming very complex. My letter from Porsche GB said this would take around 2 hours, so far the time the car has spent in the OPC has been 3 working days and a weekend.

There seems to be a lack of expertise within the dealerships on actually how these systems work,
and hearing Adrian's tale of woe i am not totally surprised tbh.
On my new 2017 GTS with car connect
I have been trying to get information on how and when the Porsche connect package will come on line!
Its there on the website but it appears it will not be live for Macan owners until late March.
The strange thing is it did appear with the full range of apps ,fuel prices, parking, train times ,very impressive.
But promptly disappeared the next day, why?
Asking my local opc who to be fair are always more than helpful, the reply from Porsche HQ was
Oh yes we have had a few cars that did that!.
So my point is, what hope does the dealer have if Porsche don't know whats going on and why not
put information on the Porsche connect site with leadtimes, rather than dangling a carrot
thats out of reach!

On a slightly different issue the new and the original handbook says you can copy a CD to the Jukebox but after some discussions over 8 months with the OPC and between them and Porsche GB I have now been told it does not work and never will. The only way to get a CD to the Jukebox is to copy it to a memory stick.

I'd be interested in hearing your ongoing experiences with this issue if you wouldn't mind keeping this thread updated please. Our Macan GTS is a similar age to yours and has the same problem you describe with an inability for the surround view function to be selected from the steering wheel button when assigned. The steering wheel button will invoke other operations when assigned so the basic button hardware is obviously working. Our car was updated a couple of weeks ago however we didn't try assigning surround view pre update so can't confirm it has ever worked.

Steve, the Surround View control aka shortcut from the steering wheel button was one of the add ons that came with the PCM/Instrument Cluster update so it would not have been present on your car before the update if your GTS was one of the early models like mine which was a March 2016 build.
Goron59 (on the Macan Owners Club Forum) had the same issue with his Turbo but his OPC (on the third visit) swapped out the Park Assist Module for an updated version. I asked my OPC to do the same but they said they have to follow a process with Porsche GB's technical dept. I'm still no further forward as of today.

Thanks for the clarification/update BigCat, I'll contact DL to kick off the process of getting it resolved then. Maybe I can get away with fewer visits although that remains hope rather than expectation!

Latest news this afternoon for my car is that Porsche Technical want the OPC to replace the Park Assist Module so as this should fix the problem.

Thx for updating, that sounds encouraging. Hopefully this will be your last visit for this problem and the same problem for others will be resolved in fewer visits. Do you know if the 'Park Assist Module' h/w or s/w has been updated since our cars were supplied (ours is Mar '16 too btw)?
