Hi all,my 2000 C4 has recently had the problem of the ABS and TC lights coming on,first port of call will be the MAF sensor.Looked at removing it tonight and found that the screws aren't of the torx type but some sort of security screw, can anyone tell me what type they are and who would supply a bit for them, thanks for any help.

Hi,

They are security torx screws search eBay should be plenty for sale or your local car parts shop. I had the same problem with my c4 last year and a replacement maf was the cure. I bought from eurocarparts, much cheaper than opc.

Yeah,I've found the bits,I'll try cleaning it first, cheapskate that I am and then take it from there. Thanks for the reply,I appreciate it.

Personal I use Switch cleaner, Carb cleaner, Brake cleaner or Isopropanol.

However some insist on Maf cleaner that is available in cans, I fail to see how it can differ from the above.

I have also never damaged a MAF using any of the above.

Sorry if I sit on the fence, But MAF sensors aint cheap!. LOL.

Yep,

Some switch cleaner is cleaner & Lube and some is just cleaner yes.
But it says on the label so read it first.

I've got brake cleaner, carb cleaner and switch cleaner,I've never seen MAF cleaner.I suppose carb cleaner would be safest,as you say, switch cleaner may have some lube trace in it.

Thanks for your help,I've got everything ready and I'll do it this weekend,I'll let you know the outcome.

Well the MAF cleaner didn't turn up so I used carb cleaner, been out for a half hour run and all seems ok,hopefully that's it.
