Not a garage queen then???ORIGINAL: Damen All being well (work permitting) I should be at Oulton................... It also had a bare metal repaint earlier in the year and I'm thrilled with the results. Damen
Apologies also Damen --- I also would love to know the answer ---ORIGINAL: Damen Rich I am confident that if the refurbishing job is done properly (it's all down to the prep.), then it only needs doing the once. However, that doesn't resolve my problem, I want some brand new/prefect rears. Any more ideas? Damen

Pretty sure they are no longer available new from an OPC...ORIGINAL: mike2 Damen, I called Freisinger (No. 1 in rare Porsche spare parts in Germany) - they don't have rear Mags... Thomas Schmitz is offering a set of Mag wheels for 5K euro (4.5K pounds), but I don't know, if they are new. As mentioned, I'm looking for two new front Mags (965.362.124.15). You should get them in the OPC. What someone be so kind and ask his dealer, what they cost in UK? In Germany you have to pay ca. 1.4K euros (about 1.3K pounds). Because of the strong euro - are they cheaper in UK? Thank you very much. Regards, Michael
A member of my family has a powder coating factory in Langley Bucks/Berks border. He assures me that Mag powder coating is straight forward, but the prep is the key to getting a good long lasting finish, the beading process needs to be taken very gently and avoid chemical dipping. As the wrong mix of chemicals can dissolve a wheel very quickly, now that is reassuring at > £1k a pop.ORIGINAL: Richard Dawson Magnesium is unstable, and hard to prep. In a similar vein try refurbing the "star" bits in the middle of E34 M5 wheels. Same issue being magnesium. I have never looked into it, but can you powder coat magnesium? I have a fear it'll either cause a reaction or won't conduct.
I'd like to think this is where our club's 'special relationship' with Porsche AG would come into it's own. In reality Porsche wouldn't even consider manufacturing the wheels themselves ( a 15yr old design, why bother?), OR licensing a third-party to manufacture authentic mag replicas (complete with all the correct lettering including the Porsche name). I believe SM no longer exist.ORIGINAL: ChrisW How many sets of wheels would need to be manufactured to justify a batch ? Paul, do you think this is even a possibility ?
