Magnesium Wheels

I have been offered a set of REMOTEC Mag alloy wheels, made in Germany;fronts are 8J *16 taking 225-50/16 tyres, rears take 245-45/16 tyres.Am told that they will fit our 964 C2 without spacers and without steering lock limitations-our car has standard suspension settings. The wheels are bright yellow and I would have them stripped and repainted possibly Graphite grey.I could probably get them for around £200.Does anyone have any info about them;would they be a sensible option?

Colin,

Without knowing the offsets (ET) nobody will be able to give you a meaningful answer. If all 4 wheels are 8J I'd suggest that it's not a good start. I would expect the rear wheels to be significantly wider than the fronts - just putting wider tyres isn't really good enough.

I really know nothing about Remotec as a company or their wheels so can't really offer much advice I'm afraid.

Regards

Dave

Im not sure what the standard RS wheels or other modern mag rims are like, but I know older mag wheels could only be re-finished a couple of times.. you might find they have been painted for a reason!..

Thanks for your replies;-I will investigate further and dig out the rear wheel size, visually they much wider than the fronts;will also get the offsets. Will try and get a jpeg or 2.I was told that they came in yellow from new and are of the criss-cross pattern.I have no technical knowledge regarding no of times they could be refinished. My assumption is that if the substrate metal is OK,then a paint finish is just that,or am I being naive? Can you advise further, please.
