After much thought and a great day last Friday at Oulton I am keeping the car (got a stiff talking to from a few people...;-)

Altho' my car came out of the Factory on 18" Speedlines I should like a set of mags also....

....anyone got any ideas where I can find a set?

I have a set of Cup Car OE Cups but would also like a pukka set of mags for completeness......

Thanks,
Kevin.

One gorgeous car Kevin .... and probably worth more than you think in that condition [;)]

I have seen three or four sets of mags come onto the market in the last year, so they do come along.

And the 18" wheels you have are the original wheels, so for completeness, you already have them !!

My experience with Mags has not been great and I've played around with all sorts of wheels --- evidence all the pics.

I have a very good set of 17" mags which have just been refurbished for the second time in two years --- hopefully this time for the last time for (if we've got them right), at least five years. And they are the show set for my Maritime car.

You have seen my grotty set which have only been used at Oulton Park since being refurbished in the summer of last year. They are solid and ideal for track work, but will need refurbishing at the end of this season and are becoming almost unrecognisable from the outside.

Maybe you need to consider what you want the spare set to do ?

A complete set keeps being put up for sale on German ebay, they are still on there for approximately £4,000.

Pleased to hear you are keeping the car - you know it makes sense! Long term you will be delighted - ask Des if you don't believe me!

Not going to see many sets of mags now under £3,500 I would guess, so the eBay set may be a good purchase if the exchange rate is right and they are in great condition. Would be worthwhile to contact Thomas for a pukka set - at a price though. Sets with tyres were fetching £2,000 about 18 months ago but I've seen none for less since. Appears the cost of refurbing a set means the sellers are trying to recoup at least some of that cost. Occasionally you see sets which have had lots of layers of paint and superficially look poor but underneath may be protected and would be good. Take care if you buy a set like this and strip them as trapping moisture under the paint, even with the best effort, appears to lead to bubbling when subjected to high temperature e.g. track use.

Glad you're keeping the car Kevin. If I'm honest I probably started to enjoy my car more after the 1st year or so, I hope the same applies to you, mate. Hope to see you in the year, maybe at Croft or Donington.
