Main beam issues

Hi Steven,

If the dipped beam is working OK I would suspect that the problem lies with the light stalk switch on main beam. If it’s working intermittently that would suggest a contact problem. What happens if you wiggle the stalk around when on main beam?

Hi, my main beam on my Boxster 986 S is only working intermittently, side lights are ok, I’ve had "night breaker” bulbs in the car and have changed them back to standard headlight bulbs, but the problem still exists, could this be a relay issue, anyone got any clues???

I had a similar issue on my 2003 986, where turning the light switch to main beam (not the high beam via the stalk) there was no or intermittent action. I removed the light switch (not too difficult) gave it a good spray of contact cleaner which sorted the problem.

Hi Phil,

Thanks, I’ve come to the same conclusion, my Sunday job this week is to have a go at removing the switch and cleaning the contacts with contact cleaning spray. Just purchased some plastic pry bars to remove the red part of the unit, so I can access the contacts and probes. we’ll see how it goes, £70 for an OEM part and £140 for genuine Porsche. Steve
