Main Radiator Replacement

Fella 996 owners,

I am looking to replace my main radiators as I am replacing the condensers. Two birds, one stone!

I have a detailed set of distructions for the condensers, but not the radiators. It all "seems" simple, but, do any of you have good tips/instructions that you would be willing to share?

Regards

You found two birds and one stone in there...???!! [:D]

I haven't done the job myself but these might be helpful:

the higher you can get the front of vehicle the better, so the hoses are above the header tank level effectively, that way loose less coolant.

place catch tray under rad when removing bottom hose and pour that same fluid back into new rad plus more if necessary

then drive around with tank lever in upright position for half hour till it's all at correct temp. make sure heater is on full, with luck you can get away with this only.

I managed to scoop a starling last week on the way back from the lakes last weekend. The cars fine but.......
Don't tell me the poor starling has been relocated to Lancashire.......

Well I manged to change the condensers, main radiators (not as easy as I hoped or thought) and dessicator and so far so good.

I actually only found one bird, a few stones as I had cleaned the scoops late last year.

To be honest I was suprised at how bad it was in there, but the car is a 99(T) and I don't think they had been cleaned ever!

But new rads and guides fitted I an hopefully that this is the only time I will have to do this (note to future slef, make sure you fit the right rad to the right side, d'oh!). Having said that the spring hose clamps are a pain, and if I had to do it again I would have binned them and used jubilee clamps.
