Major Service - Advice please.

I own an August 2002, 996 Turbo with 60,000 miles on the clock and its going in for a major service at the end of the month.
In addition to what's covered by this service can anyone recommend what else I could get done that would benefit the car at this stage? Im thinking gear box oil/diff oil, that sort of thing.
Generally the car runs exceptionally well and has always been serviced and maintained fully. Any advice would be much appreciated?
Thanks, Donald.

Gearbox oil would be a good idea.

On top of that, your suspension is likely to be tired and sagging (the rears almos certainly will be). So if you want to spend the money I'd get it inspected by Chris Franklin at Center Gravity. They may need a refurb and a geo setup.

I've thought the same, just got the 996 and i'm thinking about a transmission, diff and coolant change.

Many thanks, got a geo set-up a couple of months ago when new tyres were fitted.
Did they check the ride heights? Very few do, and as Rod says, they do sag at the rear. The nose-up attitude can make a big difference to how the car feels and performs.

Dont think the ride heights were checked at the time. Although the guy who does my geo is very good (Ive used him for a few years now) I think he has his limits? I live in Edinburgh and dont know of a specialist nearby. Do you suggest I ask/trust Porsche to check them as they are carrying out my service?

Ride height is something normal alignment places don't check. The OPC should be able to do it easily and quickly without doing a full alignment check, so I would ask them for a price before committing yourself. My indy has a gauge he can slide under the car, and measure it at each corner in about 5 minutes total.

Thanks again Richard. Depending on the outcome of the height checks may get back to you for further advice.
