Major Service/Freshen up for 944 Lux - Advice Needed

Hi Everyone,

Not exactly new to the forum, but haven't posted for a long time - newly back to the 944 fold after a few years off.

I've just bought a nice black 1986 944 Lux, and am loving having a 944 again, but there are a few jobs that need doing, and I'm wondering what else I should be considering doing at the same time, and would appreciate any advice.

There is a fair bit of vibration at idle, but only noticeable at idle, so reading around I reckon the engine mounts need changing, but would it be a good idea to change the gearbox/torque tube mounts as well?

The gearshift is a little vague and a long throw, so I was thinking of a quickshift kit from JMG (http://www.jmgshop.com/9xx---roadshift-quickshift-87-p.asp) to solve both problems - anyone on here have any experience of these guys or the quickshift?

I've not had a chance to get it up in the air for a really good poke about, but the service history is quite good (new engine fitted about 18 months ago, which had new belts etc before fitting), even so I was thinking that a full service is a good idea - I was thinking filters, fluids, brake hoses, gearbox oil etc - should I also change distributor cap/rotor arm as well?

The car also squats a bit under acceleration - doesn't seem to loose composure, and it is good fun, so not too bothered, but I was wondering if it is a good idea to be changing dampers and bushes, given that they could well be 24 years old...

Sorry for the long first post, but I do plan on keeping this car a very long time, so I'm keen to keep her in the best possible state :)

Cheers,

Fatboy
