Major service in the North East

I’ve just acquired a 718 Boxster and looking for suggestions for a major service. Main dealer quotes an eye watering cost. Anybody got any good recommendations around Teesside - Red Line, Nelsons? Any help greatly appreciated. I used Red Line for some rebuilding of my 993 Cab but that was a few years ago!

No experience on who is good but in general - I would make sure that you are being quoted "like for like" - work out exactly what is needed/included in the OPC quote and make sure the others are quoting less money for the same work and parts/consumables that you agree are comparable. I had an experience where an indy undercut an OPC on the quote - but when I compared what they were actually quoting for they were charging more than the OPC for their time, they were making up the difference on "ebay parts" and simply not doing some of the work - when I lined them up side by side and asked them to quote for same parts and same work they were 25% more expensive than OPC.

If you get a quote for what you want using parts you are happy with then happy days - but there are sharks out there.

Chris I don’t know how far away from you but Sam Lander Porsche in Malton are very good, there are a number of members from your area ie PCGB R3 who use Sam. I use Sam for maintaining my BoxsterS, & have been very pleased, a thoroughly genuine guy, who doesn’t rip people off.

There is also a new outfit starting out in Pickering called Zeigen Porsche who I believe used to work @ Red Line.

Thanks - I’ll definitely compare. I’ve used OPC Leeds for many years for my 993 - its was just the Boxster quote that was a bit of a shock!!

Thanks - Malton isn’t too far away.

If you are within reach of Leeds then perhaps RPM Specialist Cars just outside Knaresborough may not be too far. Andy and Nick and their team are thorough decent and genuine who who deliver a great standard of service. Sam Lander is also great, but maybe RPM would be closer to you?

Hi Chris,

I’m not in your area but I think that the Cayman Register Secretary John Dickinson has his 981 serviced at D&G Porsche Specialists in Wallsend. Contact him on cayman@porscheclubgb.com for some input.
