Manifold heatshield rattle...just bend??

Hi Folks,

A little while ago I posted a rattle thread (happens between 1500-1800 rpm) when driving. Well today, I managed to get it to rattle while stationary, and *think* it is coming from the manifold heatsheild at the bottom of the engine bay. Got the Mrs to hold the car at rattle point, poked a long screwdriver on there (the car, not the mrs[:D]) and bingo, no noise....So, wait til things cool, and just give it a tweak and a bend, or is there another suggested method?

Thanks

Jon.

When mine was rattling it was broken, welded a washer on to fix it. Forgotten exactly where it is but was just above or below the front exhaust port,

Thanks. A closer inspection reveals there is a rusted and broken bolt half way along the shield. I'll either try and bend it away from the pipes where it vibrates, or see if it can be welded tight. Access looks a little tight.... If I break it, how necessary is that shield? I'm assuming quite-very here....!

Is that the one that joins the 2 pieces of shield together? ( a photo would be handy - its about 9 years since I fixed mine and neither car is at my house) I did get mine off without having to remove too much else.
