Manual Steering Rack Oil

My steering has been stiff for a little while. Ive had the universal joint off, checked it cleaned it and oiled it. I still had the problem so I took the boot of the steering rack and theres not much oil in it. How much should I put in there? Is hyploid 80 gear oil ok?
