Member News
Welcome to new members Kelvin Jones (Liverpool L24), Phil Davies (Eccleston), John Hanley & James Parry (Ormskirk, 993 Turbo), Lynda & Chris Taylor, (Crewe, 997C 4S Cab.), Warren England (Culcheth), Peter & Linda Clark (Wallasey, 996) and Wayne & Tracey Fitzgerald (Middlewich, 993). Your fellow R5 members and I look forward to meeting you at a Club Night or one of the other events that are organised for you.

Next R5 Event
The next R5 event is the Spring Drive & Lunch on 27 March. See "FORTHCOMING R5 EVENTS" below for more information.

Election of Club Directors
The Voting Papers enclosed with the March Porsche Post for the election at the Club AGM of two Directors must be returned to the independent auditors by Friday 25 March. Please reflect carefully on the merits of the candidates for each of the Director posts concerned and then vote in each case for the candidate whom you consider will best serve the interests of the Club.

Apologies
Shortly after I forwarded the main text for my March Porsche Post report to Club Office my much travelled, ten-year old laptop "˜died'. Hence, I was not able to include the names of the R5 members who joined the Club during January, for which I apologise. Neither was I able to issue a Newsletter for February, nor the promised 2011 Calendar of Events, for which I also apologise.

2011 Calendar of Events
The current version of the R5 2011 Calendar of Events is attached to this Newsletter and can also be found on the Club website. There are still several Club Nights for which an activity has yet to be scheduled, as well as scope for more "˜Summer Sunday' outings. Hence, I would be grateful to hear from members who have suggestions for filling the gaps.

Planning Questionnaire
You will also find attached to this Newsletter a questionnaire from which we aim to elicit members preferences vis-à-vis our Club Nights and the other activities organised by the R5 Committee. Without such information it is difficult for the Committee to deliver what you want. Accordingly, I would be grateful if you would please complete the questionnaire and return it to me, preferably by e-mail. I goes without saying that I would also welcome any observations you might have on other Club matters not covered by the questionnaire

"Porsches at Arley Hall 2011":progress Report No. 1
Preparations for this, our second Regional Event at Arley Hall, are proceeding apace. Terms for both this and a 2012 event have been agreed with Arley Estates, contracts for 2011 have been exchanged and the deposit paid. The site is unchanged, so no additional survey has been necessary, and only a slightly modified version of last year's Risk Assessment will be required. We plan to stick closely to last year's successful formula, but at the same time to both build on that success and take on board all the comments we received. Accordingly, we will this year have, amongst other things, a catering facility within the Event Arena serving bacon butties in the early part of the morning plus a lunch-time BBQ, and a mini Club Shop, and the Concours judging will start earlier. We will also be doubling our efforts to provide the entertainment attractions that were sadly missing last year, together with more interesting Guest Club displays.

Several of last year's exhibitors and traders have already confirmed they will be attending again and the first few cars for the planned "Porsches in Competition" display have been lined up. Many more are wanted, so if you have a race, rally, sprint or hillclimb car that you would like to display, or know someone who owns such a car that they might wish to display, please let me know, preferably by e-mail.

Please also let me know if you have any suggestions for other family attractions we might include.

Invitation to Jasmine Porschalink UK
R5 members have been invited, together with R18 and TIPEC North West members, to an Open Evening at Jasmine's premises in Nelson on Wednesday 18 May 2010. A complimentary hot, buffet supper and drinks are planned, followed by a couple of interesting speakers, free car checks and a charity raffle. Please let me know if you are likely to attend so that hosts Sue and Brian Goff can plan accordingly.
