March Club Night Presentation

Steve Brookes

Moderator
A while ago I suggested an idea whereby members give a short presentation about their own car. Last year Graham gave us a great presentation on his 993 speedster build. So now it's my turn and I will be giving a talk about my own car (964) on Wednesday 9th March.

It will be the story of my search for a 964 that could be turned into part tourer and part track day car. Using lots of photographs I aim to show how it's been changed and upgraded almost on a month by month basis over the four years that I've owned.

From this when I bought it in early 2007:

looks good Steve, will make a point of being there, will you have the car there, rides round the block perhaps ?

Thanks Tim. Yes the car will be there on the night but you would be better coming to Oulton Park on the Saturday before (5th March, Porsche RS weekend) and have a ride around the track [;)]

Thanks Steve,

Will be going to Oulton hopefully on Friday as a friend has just bought a 997 GT3 RS and thinks he wil be ok to take it.

Probably yours will be not as fast but I bet it sounds fantastic !

If your going on Saturday only will have to get a pass out from 'er indoors, as 2 days of fun is not allowed !

Steve,
Have I managed to spot all the differences-ie.your wife is not in the "after" photo?[:)]

Good spot Colin but you missed that the PO is not in the second one either. [:D]

Looks really good Steve - From the first photo I see it moved being a skip in the background to white kirb side beauty - will this progression be included in the talk?[;)]

Steve,
Must be my age -I haven't as yet seen a PO in either of the shots-maybe I don't know what one is?[&o]

PO = previous owner who is the glum one 3rd from the left, wondering if he's doing the right thing in selling.

We know the feeling well chez Appleton-we try very hard not to be glum-as our daughter is expecting another baby in June,Irene keeps mentioning wanting a replacement "heavyweight " Porsche to go up & down to Newcastle in-she says they command more respect & space particularly with a women driver than her 924S on the motorway.
I will try & get across for your evening-if only to heckle.[:)]

Steve, I hope your presentation went well, which am sure it probably has!

My friend Nick, had mentioned you was doing one, gosh I hate presentations!

Car looks great Steve I will definitely try and get along next week. Love the Carrera stripes I want to put these on my 3.2 as well, once the rust has been sorted out!!

Hi Steve,

Just a quick 'thank you' on behalf of everyone who attended last night, for a great presentation yesterday. Really interesting to hear what you have done to your car, and a great set of photos which made your presentation even better.

Cheers,
Roddy

Thanks Roddy, glad you enjoyed it. It's difficult to decide where to pitch these presentations but hopefully it gave people an idea of what you can do yourself with these cars, both to maintain them and improve them. Although I did see the odd person nodding off out of the corner of my eye [:D]
