I think the register specific presentation/meets at Reading were fantastic; with this monthly meets does that mean there is no room for register to hold events at Porsche Cars?

The Register events (certainly the 997, 924 and Boxster) were all held at Porsche Cars GB.

The monthly meets are at Porsche Centre Reading.

I don't think that this affects any arrangement with Porsche Cars [8D]

Fabien, the RO for the Thames Valley Register, has made arrangements with Reading OPC for a monthly meeting which is the third Saturday of every month.
Naturally all regions / registers can attend as with all Porsche Club meetings.
This does not prevent Registers or other Regions from holding events at Porsche Cars GB or the OPC subject to making arrangements with them.

I'll be there as usual. Might even get the 931 up on the ramp to see if they can locate the oil leak, and get them to crack, as in loosen the sump drain as I can't shift it and I am desperate to do an oil change. They might even sell me an oil filter to boot. On a jammier note guess who's new cabriolet got the swissvax treatment at Cornbury?

Paul,

I strolled in bit late last time[:(] - and was a bit in a dark about what was planned / being demonstrated etc. - totally minor point- as others there happy to chat / explain.

Technician was excellent, sent a msg to fab asking him to pass on particular thanks - as Technician very helpful, bothered to point out few rare customers cars in the Service parking area, chat re different models etc. etc. - so top marks.

My 2ps worth of suggestions:

[:)]Think someone in another post suggested: Notice / programme by the door? to let us know what's on offer - woudl definately have taken up the service was offer - think mine was possibly the dirtiest car there.

[:)]Maybe a blackboard by the ramp ( as per Pool table ) to form an orderly line for the ramp, though seems very relaxed, and interesting to see the other cars being 'gone-over'.

[:)]Any chance of a diagnostic readout - as every now and then abs/abd light comes on, then goes out....[:-] ( car is a 993 )

[:)]Brough a digital camera with me last time - as useful to have a pic of the underside, ordering parts, tracking oil leaks etc. Take pics of bits Technician has spotted etc, Happy to take pics of others' cars and then e mail them if I'm there,

[:)]Maybe any chance OPC has a camera - so pics can be taken if requested?

[:)]Jug to put your used teaspoon into....to keep the table nice and tidy!

[:)]Jaffacakes or Chocolate hob-nobs

[:)] will the service wash still be on offer?, please?

[:)]Maybe have a raffle/ names in the hat if there's only time for a couple of washes etc.( avoided suggestion of using keys in a hat for this..... )

[:)]Tour of workshosp if possible, if there are now enough promo shots of the new models in the press for it not to be top secret?

[:)]Maybe one basic self-service item talked through / demonstrated by a Technician, e.g. Brake pads Change - for those that do track days ( or plan to... )etc. - presume if there's a customer's car booked-in for this job in the workshop then OPC won't being doing itself out of trade, and presume parts Dept. might benefit??

Very well worthwhile, interesting morning, coffee, hospitality, staff etc. were all excellent! Thanks

I haven't been at work since Tuesday - had yesterday and today as holiday - so am not sure of the final details for tomorrow.
Most of your suggestions I will put to Kevin when I seem him.
There should be no problem with a tour of the workshop this time - if it has not been organised see me and I will take you round but I will not be able to take a big group.
There is a place to put the teaspoon into - it is in the left hand cupboard under the coffee machine.[:)]
Kevin will also be pleased to see your comments regarding Phil (the technician) and other staff.
Paul

Oh - this came round quick... Only just realised it's tomorrow [&:]

We're double booked I'm afraid - already going elsewhere with the club [&o]

When's the next one? [8|][:)]

Hi Paul

That sounds great! Thank you!
I also think the items we have had planned over the last two months have been of great use and interesting...

  • Lights and levels checked.
  • Car wash
  • Workshop tours
  • Demo Zymol Wax
  • Test Drives
  • Presentations ...etc

Me and Simon will be there!

cheers

J[:D]

A quick thank you to all the organisers of this event on 17/3 at Reading OPC; especially the technicians and lovely ladies from the tyre suppliers.

Also Fabian for getting this event off the ground in the first place. Thanks again.

Just to let you all know that the situation with the shattered rear n/s quarter to retrieve my keys from inside has been resolved. Ebay provided me with a source of a replacement glass within 5 minutes of my arrival at home for £15 including p&p. In the mean time I have taken the glass from the 1978 924 in my garage which is in need of a new cill, as time is of the essence, which I managed to get out in one piece after liberal applcations of soapy water, but unlike Saturday, I did have acces to the inside of the car, which made it a lot easier to remove. It is in place and ready to go. The replacement glass will be fitted into the other car in due course. Thanks to all the organisers who helped make this another interesting meeting.

Hi All - Those of you who had the opportunity to examine my undercarriage on Saturday should know that despite the miniscule adjustments made to the geometry, my car tracks so beautifully now that I only have to think about steering and she's on her way through. Thanks very much to Paul Judge for the opportunity, and to Kevin and co at Reading OPC for the demo. If you haven't already booked up, I'd thoroughly recommend getting your angles checked on that wicked machine. New set of rubber is next - and there's only one place I would think of for getting the wheels balanced properly (if you weren't there on Saturday, the tyre bay has an equally wicked balancing machine, and a man who knows how to use it (muppets abound in other places - Humphreys put 14inches of balancing weights on my BMW's rims, then added some more on the opposite side when it still wouldn't balance...) Splendid morning - thanks again. And if you haven't supported this monthly event yet, please do so!

Hi Guys,

Do you have to be a member of the Porcsche club to come along to these meets? I'm new arrounnd here having just bought an my04 Boxster S, and Reading OPC is only 20 mins up the roud from me. Sounds like a great meet.

I think Porschce OPC reading would be happy to improve their customer relations with anyone who could potentially give them more business , but out of fairness to the members who pay their subs, I venture to suggest that it might be straining the goodwill of the members if a non-club member kept turning up. I don't think anyone would mind if you came along one month and saw part of what you get for your membership, but after that I would think that it is a pretty poor show to continually turn up as a non member. You dont need to belong to the Thames Valley region, or be a member of the forum to attend. They are good events. Come at witness the magic of Colin, who with his state of the art wheel balancing machine can balance your wheels to 0 gms and hide the weights behind the spokes. Complimentary coffee is available, and you get a chance to get your car up on the ramp in the 'greenhouse'.

Thanks for the info.

I will join the club soon, I just did not know whether it was a requirement or not. Would the next meet be the 21st of April?
